I have a quick question about strafing attacks in Action Stations.

It says that an aircraft can do strafing attacks over vessels it passes over but doesn't say at what range that happens. I'm guessing it happens in the 0-5 range band? and return fire at the same range? Also range what does the return fire count as? same as attacking? and does that mean only guns in the attacking arc get to fire or all guns in the two arcs it passes through?

Another question as well.

When playing the other night my opponent had a quick play sheet that said certain guns couldn't affect class 2 or class 3 vessels but I can't find that in my copy of the rules. I have version 3.2, I think his was 3.1.

All right not such a quick question but all help gratefully received.

Not sure about the official answer, but have run across this as well.

I see a couple options for the gunfire, e.g. if pressing the attack, you get to do so at the shortest range.

Otherwise, measure the range from the aircraft, at its endpoint in the move, from the vessel, and conduct firing from there, if it turns away from the vessel, instead of firing over it.

Same applies for the return fire.

As for fire from the ship/boat, if it is flown over, permit firing from both sides of the vessel, or twice, e.g. front and rear arcs of the aircraft, as it flies over it. Of course, the aircraft can fire both front and rear guns, assuming it has any of the latter, as it does so, too.

Check the Narrow Seas Yahoo Group. Can't recall which version of the QRS is posted in the files section, but it may help. Light guns don't do damage to some areas of vessels, due to their armor protection.

Any guns that bear, on the aircraft and the ship.
