A client asked for me to make one of his Dreadfleet ships glow. Using some paint I picked up at the craft store I gave it a shot. This ship was given about four coats of the paint and the results look pretty cool on film, but not so much in person. It appears that the paint needs to be really thick to get a good effect.

Has anybody else tried this?

Use a 'black light' in a dark room to bring out the full effect.

I've used glow in the dark paint, but have not bothered with it on miniatures as, like you said, you need a thick coat to get a decent effect. Also, I generally don't game in the dark.

I put some glow in the dark paint in engines for spaceships, and we played a game under black lights once. But it was tough on my eyes.

Neato.

I have an old glow in the dark d20. Game on!

Some day I'll try doing a full black light project. I hadn't really thought about it in years. When I was working at Imagineering there was a crew working on a large black light project. They had a special room for painting and people were only allowed to work in it for a limited amount of time per day.
