I picked up Shipbase III from a guy in the flea market at Cold Wars. He swore up and down that it came on a CD, but it proved to be otherwise when I popped the shrinkwrap. Yeah, I got took, considering the price, but hey, caveat emptor and all that. So my question is can anyone provide a copy of the install files on a CD? I'll pay for mailing and such. I can prove I own it.. heck, I'll even send you the 3.5 inch and 5.25 inch !! floppies that came with it if you like. I haven't had a computer that could read them in years. V/R Walt O'Hara |

I'll bet you could find an inexpensive external floppy drive on Ebay or some other flea market that would get this done for you. Not sure you want to spend more money ona piece of gear you'd only use once but

I'll send you instructions for an updated install process via backchannel, Walt. If SB3 ever came on CD, that'd be news to me. I just upgraded to a brand new Windows 7 PC and moved my last "front line" PC to be equipped with a floppy disk drive down to the game room in the basement. Have to admit I haven't used a floppy disk in years either. |

I love SHIPBASE III and have tried some other computer programs but keep return to it. Would love to get a new copy and have it on CD !!! Have also used Treads and Turrets, looks like it is pretty much like TRACTICS but computerised. |

Have also used Treads and Turrets, looks like it is pretty much like TRACTICS but computerised. Treads & Turrets is Tractics computerised. The tank parts of the program, anyway. If I recall correctly (it was almost 30 years ago) I based the infantry and artillery systems of Treads & Turrets on the homebrew rules used by the local (Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania) game group, and I believe those homebrew rules were based closely on Tractics. I've lost that section of handwritten notes that might've explained which part was which. |
