I've done a fairlky long post in which I go through painting 2 units (Russian Greandiers 1812) from start to finish using basic block painting with a bit of limited ry brushing, and then trying avrious formulation sof Magic Wash (Future Acrylic Floor Polish, black india ink, with or without Jet Dry as a surfactant in various formulas; this was my fist experience using this "Magic Wash" technique.

I'm very much a novice at "the dip"/Magic Wash technique, so constructive feed back is most welcome, and further trials are planned for the future (or Future, as the case may be!)

can anyone smuggle in the future floor polish as it is illegal to sell it in the UK. I will pay good money for a couple of bottles of the good stuff? its not a case of importing it, someone will have to bring it over if they are coming from the states.

Interesting – although I prefer it browner, myself …

Maddaz111, why do you say this? Go to this link for your country's Future equivalent: link

Ditto:

I have used washes of acrylic paint thinned with water plus surfactant (Flow aid/Color Float) for quite some time now in limited aplication – such as a grey blue wash for white pants/coats, dark red over light red base to bring out the folds, etc. The difference with the "Magic Wash" or "The Dip" is that it is, usually, applied to the *whole figure* after the painting is otherwise completed. Some might go back and do a bit of touch up here and there afterwards, but it is basically a final step, and includes the protective coating as a bonus.

Phil: will try a browner version on the next set, most likely. Stay tuned. :-)

Amd I will say it again, they have stopped selling future or its equivalent product in the EU/UK. The replacement product has a sickly yellow colour added and has other actions in its reaction with paint.

I used to get Klear – by Johnsons and it was an analog of Future, but they could not sell it anymore and sent me a different product which was not what I wanted, and sent me a warning not to use products for purposes that they were not intended.

So anyone who can fix me up with some of that good stuff the next time they fly over .. let me know.

Maddaz111 I read over the link ancientsgamer posted link
and you're correct.

According to the link Klir or Johnson's "Sols Plus" and as "Vloer Plus" is still available in the Netherlands and Belgium. It would seem easier to get it from there.

Mad – I have a box load bought when they stopped selling it – the good old clear version. Happy to let you have a bottle – post your details up and I will contact you. Don't remember what they cost – around a fiver, but happy to be guided by you. Not in it for money, happy to pass a spare bottle to some one who needs it.

I'll just add that the creator of the first formula I tested has commented on the blog with some clarifications, and so I'll probably use his formula, modified by his observations, for another test run soon.

Maddaz111- see if you can find a shop online in the US that will mail order it to you. I'm afraid you can't carry it on a plane, though it might be possibe to put in checked bags- risky tho due to pressures.
