Gents
We would like to give you a quick glimpse at the first release for the new and upcoming Warfighter: World At War miniature ranges… Late War Germans (1944-45)… suitable for use in the Battle of the Bulge or any other late war conflict.

picture

Warfighter : World at War is the first of many to come sister lines to the existing Warfighter: Near future/ultra modern line of miniatures.

These late war germans will suit any rule system presently on the market, blisters will be arranged in their respective platoons following closely to the guides stipulated in the new V3 Flames of War rulebooks.

The Rifle Platoon/Company Co blister is the first to hit the shelves next month (April) with the ancillary support options following close after.

For more updates, news and info drop by our website (www.flytrapfactory) which will receive its latest update this coming week or subscribe to our blog. Please note that the pics above (especially the Rifle Platoon which is displayed at half strength or thereabouts) are still very much WIP and there may be differences in the final blister contents

they look very nice and I'll follow your stuff
It's about time someone takes charge.

The shroud of mystery, your NZ location and the delays we're observing from Battlefront are interesting to put together.

Hopefully talent is not lost

Baron Trapdoor18 Mar 2012 2:59 a.m. PST

Thanks Helmet
This is just the beginning.

Go for it.

Interesting note also is that our figures are designed and manufactured/reproduced in New Zealand. Sculpting/casting and reproduction quality is our utmost prime concern.

Stay tuned!

Are the assault rifles mixed in with rifle armed troops?
I hope not because they weren't fielded in one and twos to a squad/section but by entire platoon.

VonBurge18 Mar 2012 7:00 a.m. PST

They look impressive. It would be really great if they were made of plastic, but I suspect that they are metal.

Skeptic18 Mar 2012 7:40 a.m. PST

Interesting product! By the way, your blog did not load properly in my browser (IE8).

Can you elaborate? Pictorial evidence tends to show the opposite.

number418 Mar 2012 10:20 p.m. PST

"Assault rifles" were issued to volksgrenadier companies. Each company had two assault platoons armed with machine pistols/automatic rifles and one armed with bolt action carbines

It makes far more sense to have all your weapons taking the same ammunition at least at platoon level than trying to figure out who needs what when it comes to resupply (which is also why US squads weren't bristling with carbines, Thompsons and grease guns)

jdginaz19 Mar 2012 5:54 a.m. PST

What number4 wrote.

The idea was that the assault rifles would make up for the reduction in manpower in the Volksgrenadier battalions.

Also pictures by themselves tend to be more misleading than helpful.

I did some -very- quick math. Supposedly 78 volksgrenadiers divisions were created, assuming each with 6 battalions of 600 men. That's 280,000 infantrymen (we exclude support units, AT, artillery, etc…)

Knowing that around 425,977 StG 44 variants of all types were produced, that's more than enough to equip most if not all of them.

jdginaz20 Mar 2012 6:42 a.m. PST

IIRC, only 30% of STG44 produced were distributed by wars end.

fingolfen20 Mar 2012 12:16 p.m. PST

I'll dig through some of my references – I know I have a write up on them in a couple of my collectors' references…

… and I'd REALLY love to own a transferrable one… :D

number420 Mar 2012 1:57 p.m. PST

Lets see, working on helmet's quick math: 280,000 volksgrenadiers, less around 30% who are armed with an LMG, carbine or MP40 works out at 196,000, and 30% of the 425,977 Stg's produced comes in around 127,973… so not everybody got one, but according to Gary Kennedy's excellent site the Germans did not differentiate between the MP40 and MP43 in their 'assault platoons', just that they were to be armed with 'machine pistols'.

However it's pretty clear the intent was to have two platoons armed entirely with automatic weapons, supported by one with longer range bolt action rifles, so the weapon types at squad and platoon level would have been standardized.

VonBurge20 Mar 2012 2:01 p.m. PST

Standardized on paper anyway. What units did when they got the gear and how they employed it may have varried.

Skarper22 Mar 2012 2:33 a.m. PST

Best to allow customers to pick and choose the propertions they want – All the MP40s together – all the MGs and all the MP40s together…and then all the K98s etc in another pack.

But I don't know if marketing dictates gently squeesing the consumers by have mixed blister packs and forcing an element of redundancy.

Very nice figure BTW. Look like 20mm in some ways though they are 15s – right?

OmniJackal13 Dec 2014 7:45 p.m. PST

I want to buy these.

Gunny B14 Dec 2014 2:40 a.m. PST

What happened to his WW2 range, did it never get off the ground? Shame, those models looked very good for 15mm.

repaint02 Jul 2016 5:41 p.m. PST

any news about these?

Achtung Minen03 Jul 2016 4:00 a.m. PST

I've always understood that there were two or three riflemen in a Volksgrenadier "Sturm" (MPi) squad… They helped load the lMG and carried ammo. Is that incorrect?

Edit: My mistake… looks like I was thinking of the Jägerkompanie, not the Grenadiers!

green beanie05 Jul 2016 12:25 p.m. PST

so, any word on how much the blisters will be?
