We have had a lot of requests for a sneak peek to show our up coming 5/18mmThree Musketeer Range. So, here you go! This is just a small sample of the figures coming. This range along with the Texas War of Independence, French Foreign Legion, more Sci Fi Aliens and Caesars Gallic Wars will begin to be released between now and Historicon 2012. Don't worry, the ACW and Napoleonic range will just continue their steady march of releases through it all.

Who'd have thought there was a market for "Three Musketeers" figures, let alone "Three Musketeers" figures in 15mm! |

Oh boy! I can feel my wallet shrinking already. |

Lovely figs. Seems to me the Goal System game engine should work nicely for swashbuckling with a little tweaking. |

<Sigh> A new project I won't be able to resist. These are love-er-ly! |

Those look nice. I especially like the fighting poses. Now, we just need a bevy of damsels to rescue

how about a look at the greens of the Caesars Gallic Wars please Russ |

I have been waiting for these for a long time, but it looks like they are all fighting with broadswords. Couldn't they make the swords a little closer to reality? I guess I will have to use a dremel tool on them. |
Disco Joe | 16 Mar 2012 4:07 p.m. PST |
I thought the swords looked to large myself. |

We will be showing the Gallic wars figures soon -- I did not want to show them without their sheilds so Had to wait until the production molds of sheilds was done as so many sheilds were reguired as there are that many varients among the Gauls!! Regards Russ dunaway |

That looks like another excellent range. I can't wait to see the Gallic Wars figures. |

I may certainly buy the figures, but the naval cutlasses are almost comical. Why not a good, solid gauge rapier. I'll wait for them in metal, but after doing a bunch of 20mm slotta base to regular base conversions for a very fine WWII range of figures, not looking forward to more of the same thing. Please, someone from Blue Moon
why cutlasses? |

My guess is the swords are this size so they will cast and be usable. People can always trim later. |
Miniatureships | 16 Mar 2012 7:16 p.m. PST |
There are already 28mm musketeers in the Blue Moon range. |

These look fantastic and will likely see me making my first foray into 15 mm gaming! To all those critiquing the size of the rapier blades, can you show me a gaming miniature that doesn't suffer from this problem? it's worth bearing in mind that an average rapier blade is only 25 mm wide. If you assume that a 15 mm miniature equates to roughly 1/100 scale, then you'd be looking at an in scale blade a mere quarter of a mm wide for a 15 mm figure, and less than half a mm wide for a 28 mm figure! Hardly likely to survive the rigours of shipping and painting, much less gaming. Unless you play with 1/32 or 1/35 miniatures, or use a pin or brass wire replacement blade, you're going to have to get used to big swords! |

Russ, May we assume that there has been some reversal of images in the above pictures? In each pair of pic's, one pic shows the figures as right-hand dominant and the other as left-hand dominant. One would assume that all are, in fact, right-hand dominant. AlbertaAndy is dead-on about the problems with sculpting the blades to cast and stand up to de-molding, handling, packaging, shipping, gaming, etc. However, a reasonably accurate fix is very easy; simply remove the blade at the guard, drill a hole with your pin vise or Dremel, and replace with a small sewing pin, it will be much closer to scale, very sturdy, and discourage folks from handling your figures carelessly. Russ – I realize its a bit "fiddly", but I would like to see the knuckle-guards added to a bit to more accurately represent the multi-bar rapier in use in the first half of the 17th century. These scuplts appear to be using simple cup-guard, single-bar swords, more appropriate for the simple soldiers sword of the later 17th century. See pics below:
I also hope that you consider the proposed list of possible figures/characters that I suggested in this post as the "complete set": TMP link Regardless, they are looking great and I shall try and be patient waiting for them! Bill Sir William the Aged warsoflouisxiv.blogspot.com |

Yes, I did reverse the back images so the same figures were on top of each other
didn't think at the time of the right/left hand dominance. Sorry |

Ah, now that's what I've been longing for, visual evidence. And why, if the title of the thread is focused on 15/18 mm would someone feel the need to look if they don't appreciate the scale? Go figure. Just know that the release of this range, when ready, is appreciated – and will be purchased. Replace the guards in 15 to that basket weave? I think that's a paint on option rather than a realistic sculpting option. Would be nice but I just don't see it. Thanks, Russ and Mrs. M. for getting these photos up. Time to start saving money, now. EMW |

I imagine flattened pins will be in high demand. Now, to find a small, inexpensive vice, with the ability to produce them. Barring that, a large, heavy hammer, and flat iron to pound them into proper form. |

Russ, When you say your 18 mm release will mirror the 28 mm range – this includes all the packs (perhaps packaged differently) including Zorro pack? Am in the planning stages for my 'buy' when they are ready – and I'm always looking for suitable civilians. Thanks. EMW |
