Ok..before any anti-plastic fanatics start growling
Not everyone can afford a lot of lead.(just looked at the price of Eureka's new saxon heavey cavalry
for what I would need..it's over 200 US dollars
not counting postage) I am hopeing that one day ,one of the companies that are now makeing plastic 28mm Napoleonic troops will come out with some Polish lancers in campaign.Besides the 12 + regiments of lancers from the Grand Duchy of Warsaw..there are the 7th ,8th,and 9th french lancers, and the lancers of Berg,Maybe even the Saxon regiment Prinz Clemens. I know I would buy at least 6-8 sets if they had 12 to 14 figs. Anyone else of a like mind ? Runicus |

Yes, I've been waiting for over a year! Damn I was hoping someone had some insider information. |

I think the basic Polish uniform outline with Shapka and Kurtka would also suit for Russian Lithuanin and Austrian Galician Lancers, with minor alterations

I am thinking much the same! I have been toying with the thought of buying Perrys Red Lancers for a long time, but the numbers needed for Waterloo makes your eyes water. I am afraid though, that no plastic lancer will cme. The Perrys released their Red Lancers way after they entered plastics and I do not think they would have done that if they planned to do them in plastic. Victrix might have dropped the idea of plastic cavalry altogether after being pre-empted by the Perrys on more then one ocasion. So I am affraid our prayer will not come true! Cheers, Burkhard |

So why don't you use the Perry French Dragoons, Use Victrix Austrian Heads and buy the North Star Spear/Lance Packs and with a little converting you should be able to come close and its a lot cheaper than metals still? |

I have been makeing spears and lance's for years ,they are no issue, the same for all my flag staffs for my plastic troops.I have tride mixing the Perry dragoon and hussar figs ,but I am not really all that happy with them.I might go back and try agian for the french 1st to 6th lancers, but that still leaves me wanting the "Polish" style lancer. The Perry "red " lancers are really great figs
.but they are * Guard* lancers in full dress, and I do not want that just yet. Runicus |

As long as its after plastic French artillery. And plastic British horse artillery. And plastic British cavalry. And some dismounted French dragoon command in metal. And some dismounted British Light dragoons. Now I think about it some plastic French/British sailors too. |

Us here in 1/72 land already have the marvellous Zvezda set link But I agree, cannot see Victrix making cavalry – I reckon Perrys are crushing the opposition and soon that will all that is available. |

Plus you could use them to make Sikh lancers with a little tiny bit of conversion work and some left-over Mahdist heads. |

I am afraid though, that no plastic lancer will cme. The Perrys released their Red Lancers way after they entered plastics and I do not think they would have done that if they planned to do them in plastic. I would not take Perries doing something in metal as a guarantee that they will never make them in plastic. For example the WotR range contains a pack of mounted men-at-arms (WR11), that has been out for less than two years, and now there are plastic mounted men-at-arms coming out for the same range. There might also be similar examples in other ranges, like ACW and Sudan – not familiar enough with those to tell if the newer plastics are substituting for older metals. That said, the potential sales can be an issue. How well would such lancers sell, compared to other possibly cavalry boxed sets that could be produced instead? |

I am not giveing uo hope on Victrix releaseing their plastic cavalry.I know they have had to change what they would release and when ,and even redo some of their greens. It may be next year but I will have the early french dragoons in plastic from Victrix to build the Italian Dragoon regiments. Runicus You were right not to give up hope. Victrix has just released 28mm Imperial Guard Lancers for pre-order. Only eight years late after you wished for them! ;-) |
