Yep, history should be left as it is, no matter who you support. But it was fun hearing what people would do if they could go back in time.

And the Poles were great soldiers and probably one of the reasons all the various nations wanted pieces of Poland, so they could make them fight on their side.

Gustav29 Mar 2012 4:38 a.m. PST

must resist, must stop …

Everyone knows you need Poles on a campaign.

Otherwise the tents fall down!
boom cha !

arrgghh it slipped out!

Naughty but nice!

Mollinary29 Mar 2012 11:09 a.m. PST

Get over it! He lost! Again! huzzah!

A world made safe for Anglo-Saxon-Teutonic domination. What is not to like? Don't mess with the Great Plan!

I wouldn't alter anything, but, if the time machine was big enough, I would take my friend Al and his entire camera team, complete with cameras and lots and lots of charged batteries.

What a film we could make from the footage when we got back; fat better than that silly film with Christopher Plummer.

Grizzlymc29 Mar 2012 12:08 p.m. PST

I would probably have suggested that they make the concourse bigger and integrate the two stations into one.

No, it is a masterpiece of Victorian baroque. Perhaps, rather than the poor French seeing the name WATERLOO without any warning, the intermediate stations could be

Agincourt
Crecy
Ramilles
Blenheim
Minden
Pyramids
Busaco
Salamanca
Vittoria

Captain Gideon29 Mar 2012 12:14 p.m. PST

Colin what do you have against the film WATERLOO?

1234567829 Mar 2012 12:21 p.m. PST

Well, Pyramids would cheer then up a bit:).

We really should rename St Pancras now that the Eurostar goes there. Perhaps it could be called Trafalgar station for the Crapauds and El Alamein station for the cabbage eaters.

1234567829 Mar 2012 12:24 p.m. PST

Oh Gawd! I woke him up!

Captain Gideon29 Mar 2012 12:30 p.m. PST

Yes Colin I'm still here what made you think I was gone?

1234567829 Mar 2012 12:34 p.m. PST

Only wishful thinking;).

Captain Gideon29 Mar 2012 12:36 p.m. PST

Sorry to disapoint you Colin.

1234567829 Mar 2012 12:38 p.m. PST

Oh, you never manage to do that;).

Grizzlymc29 Mar 2012 3:43 p.m. PST

Trafalgar / Dresden

1234567829 Mar 2012 4:07 p.m. PST

Dresden…..ouch!

Grizzlymc29 Mar 2012 4:18 p.m. PST

No point in moderation when it comes to causing offence.

1234567829 Mar 2012 4:25 p.m. PST

A girl who works for me is from Dresden; her grandmother hates "the English".

The girl and I have an odd relationship. A few weeks ago I was walking along the corridor when she came out to ask me something; I quickly hid the spine of the book that I was holding and told her what she needed to know; when I had finished she asked me why I was hiding the book. I replied that I did not want to offend her; she replied that how could a book possibly offend her "unless it was Mein Kampf." I showed her the spine; she was offended:(.

Maxshadow29 Mar 2012 6:55 p.m. PST

Oh Gawd! I woke him up!

I laughed so hard I had to go sit on the lav!

ghost0229 Mar 2012 9:07 p.m. PST

What was the book?

1234567829 Mar 2012 11:59 p.m. PST

Max, was it the PM with the sheep and the Kiwi wellies?

Captain Gideon30 Mar 2012 12:02 a.m. PST

Colin you simply have no clue about things with your countless dribble.

1234567830 Mar 2012 12:08 a.m. PST

Lol giddy,

Sorry for having a sense of humour; I find it helps in life;). By the way, is English your first language?

Gazzola30 Mar 2012 6:31 a.m. PST

Grizzlymc

Good idea to name stations after famous military actions, but a bit biased towards the Brits. Military education should be a bit more even. How about the following?

Orleans (with an image of a girl kicking the Brits up the backside)
Bordeaux (that'll be popular with the boozy Brits)
Yorktown
Isandhlwana
I was also going to suggest Hastings, but I think they might already have one.

Grizzlymc30 Mar 2012 7:17 a.m. PST

Ah, but the station naming will be a British perogative – I do not believe that the EU has yet got a geographical names board (although surely this will come).

1234567830 Mar 2012 8:38 a.m. PST

Why would we name stations after British defeats? The whole idea is to rub the noses of lesser nations in the dirt. A rather wonderful painting at my place of work does just that for the French and I take great delight in showing it to Gallic visitors:)).

Captain Gideon30 Mar 2012 8:56 a.m. PST

Colin are you saying that I don't have a sense of humour, because if you are then Deleted by Moderator and English is my first language is it yours too?

Deleted by Moderator

And the reasons that I come back to the Napoleonic Forum are the following:

I've had personal attacks laid against me one way or the other over the last year or so by Colin and others, and sometimes it just crosses the line and I have to defend myself I believe I do have that right to defend my good name.

It seems that I can't even speak my mind on things here as I get dumped on and insulted by certain members here, and I think I do have that right even though it differs from most members here so it's my opinion and that's what counts.

And I get dumped on for how I write things here as well good or bad that's how I am.

I know many of you don't like me for several reasons but there's no need to get abusive or rude as some of you have done to me as of late, but it seems that you only like to hear what you say and no one else.

And if someone does have a difference of opinion with what's being said you dump on them like I've never seen before.

I try and get my point across the best I can and if you don't like the way I write things then that's just tough because I'll continue to do my best (as I see it) to try and get my point across regardless of what abuse I have to take.

I may not be well versed in things but I do my best regardless of what you think.

1234567830 Mar 2012 9:26 a.m. PST

Deleted by Moderator,

It is not that we do not like you; we just Deleted by Moderator.

You may well have a sense of humour but you do not seem to bring it here with you.

As to English being your first language, my question was prompted by your apparent inability to use the correct words and follow even the most basic rules of punctuation.

Colly

Edwulf30 Mar 2012 9:28 a.m. PST

Lol.

Captain Gideon30 Mar 2012 9:29 a.m. PST

I try to do my best Colly and if that's not good enough for you then I just don't know,I'm too old to change now.

1234567830 Mar 2012 1:40 p.m. PST

It seems that Gazzola has problems reading.

Gazzola30 Mar 2012 1:47 p.m. PST

colinjallen

Oops! But you've got me thinking about your place of work now. Abattoir? Sewer? Give us a clue.

1234567830 Mar 2012 1:59 p.m. PST

LOL @ Gazzola,

First you delete the post where you messed up and then you just cannot resist showing your true self yet again by trying to get a little dig in!

Now to varnish the next one:).

Gazzola30 Mar 2012 2:57 p.m. PST

colinjallen

I deleted it because I made a mistake and misread your post. Quite correct. What do you want, a medal?

True self? But you didn't leave a clue? Why is that? Can someone come and see that there really isn't a painting and that you are making up your posts?

Maxshadow30 Mar 2012 4:30 p.m. PST

I know many of you don't like me for several reasons but Deleted by Moderator

Dear Deleted by Moderator,

I'd be surprised if there is anyone here who dislikes you.

Deleted by Moderator

Captain Gideon30 Mar 2012 5:57 p.m. PST

Deleted by Moderator

And as far as anyone here who dislikes well several do or they seem to do, but that is between them and me.

Deleted by Moderator

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 7:02 a.m. PST

Deleted by Moderator's PMs are a hoot, wee established a few pages back that you can't quote a PM, but that you can precis one.

Share please?

Captain Gideon31 Mar 2012 8:13 a.m. PST

Deleted by Moderator do you have a point?

Or are you just trying to cause more tension here?

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 8:28 a.m. PST

Wooooohooooo!

That must have been some PM if its disclosure would raise tension, share pleeeeease?

Captain Gideon31 Mar 2012 8:39 a.m. PST

Deleted by Moderator it's simply none of your business.

Plus what's the point of a private message if everyone knows what you said, the message is between the 2 people and no one else so I would drop it and go bother someone else.

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 10:10 a.m. PST

C'mon Deleted by Moderator, spill the beans!

1234567831 Mar 2012 10:20 a.m. PST

I have managed to obtain a copy of the now infamous PM; it is as follows:

"Dear Max,
Let us be friends not enemies; how about we meet for some mutual pleasure? I will wear my Napoleon costume; can you dress as Josephine?"

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 10:29 a.m. PST

Ah, a period drama perhaps?

Captain Gideon31 Mar 2012 11:12 a.m. PST

Colin you know what you can do with that so-called PM of yours.

And Grizz you appear to be Deleted by Moderator?

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 11:45 a.m. PST

Damn!

Colin, he's rumbled our closet.

He knows, "hey collie, shall we play around on my table", doesn't mean a game of WRG!

How perceptive!

Texas Jack31 Mar 2012 12:12 p.m. PST

I just have to say that I am laughing my ass off right about now.

1234567831 Mar 2012 12:26 p.m. PST

Damn indeed! How did he know about Deleted by Moderator though? Someone must have seen us through the window:(. Are you up for a game of Ambush Alley (if you get my drift) next week?

By the way Deleted by Moderator, my partner has been reading this thread and I am not sure what it was she said about your posts as she said it in Mandarin, but she was laughing a lot and shaking her head when she said it.

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 1:22 p.m. PST

You mean SHE knows as well – oh the horror!

Captain Gideon31 Mar 2012 2:00 p.m. PST

Frankly Colin some of my friends really can't make you out and they stopped trying.

Captain Gideon31 Mar 2012 2:52 p.m. PST

Is it possible that we can get back to the topic or do you wish to continue making fun of me(mostly)and just keep going the way you're going?

Grizzlymc31 Mar 2012 6:01 p.m. PST

Ahhhhh!

The topic, umm yes.

No!
