Hi guys, I've emailed GZG with a request for the possible inclusion of a pack of Crustie civilian models, running foraging types, to include as background for my shanty town, honest it'd not Mogadishu, set up. Whilst Jon would consider this he's not sure of potential sales. So please consider this as a petition of sorts to get some Crustie Civilian figures up and running.

Even if you would only buy a packet or so, please add a comment so Jon at GZG can gauge support, personally I'd be in for a few packs and I think they would really add to the range, so please, go on adapt a Crustie……you know you want to!

Cheers everyone for taking time to add to this.

I would say that not only would there be a market for unarmed Crusties, but also Crusties with mid-tech weapons.

Miniatures for role-playing purposes seem to becoming more popular. Also the presence of civilians on the battlefield in real world warfare as well as popular media presentations of warfare are likely driving this market.

This would be very neat, especially as I am using them as Twilight 2300 aliens.

On the other hand, are there Law of Armed Conflict issues when you are fighting aliens, who probably weren't signatories to any such conventions? IIRC the only reason non-warrior bugs weren't attacked in Starship Troopers (the book of course) was because they weren't a threat and thus not worth expending ammunition. Other non-military aliens were also attacked (see the raid on the skinnies). Hiding amongst the non-military swarm may be good for cover reasons, though if your powered armored infantry is lobbing tactical nukes (even tiny ones!) if may not make any difference.

Even still, I would buy them, if only for crew members, staff, logistics forces, and other rear area individuals.

sackofmonkeys11 Mar 2012 8:01 a.m. PST

I'd certainly buy a pack of crusty civilians / non-combatant too!

arngrimson11 Mar 2012 8:41 a.m. PST

I'd buy some civilian crusties along with some civilian kra'Vak and Phalon figures

TonicNH11 Mar 2012 9:20 a.m. PST

I'd definitely be up for a pack or three – add some "Not Stargate" grunts as MNU proxies and my DS9 game is a goer!

Chef Lackey Rich Fezian11 Mar 2012 9:30 a.m. PST

Count me in – and for civvy Kra'Vak and Phalons as well.

Cacique Caribe11 Mar 2012 10:13 a.m. PST

I would love to buy civilian Crusties!!!

But, if Jon still has concerns, tell him to simply add to them some scavenged implements, such as pieces of pipe or steel rods. Those items not only help them in turning over trash but, at a moment's notice, could turn into improvised weapons.

You have my vote!

captainquirk11 Mar 2012 10:50 a.m. PST

I'd buy some Crustie civilians. And some Crustie starship crew with pistols or unarmed.

Stealth100011 Mar 2012 11:33 a.m. PST

Put me down for loads. I have started to put together a crustie hi tech city. I neeed civis. Please do some.
Just sent Jon an email about them.

Johny Boy11 Mar 2012 11:42 a.m. PST

Nice one guys, cheers, pass the word around to as many Sci Fi gaming forums as possible please, the more confirms of interest we can gather the more chance of hopefully getting the figs made.

Cheers to all

Umpapa11 Mar 2012 1:08 p.m. PST

I can only repeat my words, once again:

link

I wish:
Alien civilians and irregulars/rebels/gangsters from existing popular ranges: Felids, Garns, Crusties, CMG Naga:
Set 1: 2x mum, 2x grandpa, 2x baby;
Set 2: 2x trader with wide opened hands to customize, 2x technician and 2x worker).

Alien civilians due to easy customization (different painting, adding GS bag to mum, adding GS hat to grandpa to make him wizard/governor) should be sold in 3-4 pieces per pose, to lower cost of civilians mob.

So yes, I will buy packs of civilian and irregular Crusties.

Samulus11 Mar 2012 1:17 p.m. PST

I'm planning to get some crusties as another sci-fi faction and I'd love some civvies for objective markers and dressing up the terrain. +1

Mako1111 Mar 2012 4:00 p.m. PST

I'd like to see some produced, including at least one child Crustie.

Also, some wearing light body armor, and carrying weapons would be greatly appreciated too. Images can be found on Google.

Cacique Caribe11 Mar 2012 4:45 p.m. PST

And a few Crusties playing with one of these:

Oh yes! I've been talking to Jon about this myself and I think if we show enough interest it's a definite possibility. :)

comstarhpg11 Mar 2012 5:25 p.m. PST

Well I definitely would want some civilian crusties but there must be one with a tin of cat food :)

Cheers Matt

Wolfprophet11 Mar 2012 5:43 p.m. PST

I would say that not only would there be a market for unarmed Crusties, but also Crusties with mid-tech weapons.

Agreed! I'd buy some Crusties with mid-tech weapons to use as militia alongside the ones out now. Though, I'm treating the ones out now as militia. So a release of packs with mid-tech weapons would bump them up to poorly trained conscripts with the armoured ones still being regular forces.

As for civilians… Absolutely on that as well. They're perfect to add a new dimension to a game. They can just be there. They can be rescued, eaten by zombies, captured, suspects, hostages or just in the way!

infojunky11 Mar 2012 7:02 p.m. PST

Crusties Civilians? Heck Yes! Right along that How about some Phalons too?

I will say again I would love to have Civilians, ship's Crew (both shirt sleeve and Environment suited), etc… For any and all Alien figures…

I definitely would love to be able to purchase civilian Crusties for my games, and I just emailed Jon, expressing my interest in seeing them produced sometime, hopefully, in the near future.

Mako1111 Mar 2012 11:24 p.m. PST

Of course, they'll have to go in the queue, right after the new UNSC Hardsuit figures, and the additional astronaut poses with weapons (both light and heavy vacc suit troopers) get sculpted, and produced.

;-)

(Major Disaster)11 Mar 2012 11:29 p.m. PST

That's fine, just so long as we know that Jon is willing to produce them and agrees to do just that wink

@everyone
If you are truly interested in seeing Civilian Crusties produced, you need to e-mail Jon, and let him know that you would like to see them produced. I e-mailed him and he told me only four people e-mailed him, so far, to express an interest in him making these figures. Jon is really good about listening to his customers, just he needs to know when someone is really interested in something they'd like to see produced. So, if you really are serious, please let Jon know -

The intention is to forward John at GZG a link to this thread so he can gauge support.

Scorpio12 Mar 2012 7:52 p.m. PST

Would like to see a set of civilian Crusties, and maybe some foraging/tech/mechanic Crusties.

(And yes, I e-mailed him as well. Spam for Crusties.)

Rottenlead13 Mar 2012 2:07 a.m. PST

Yes please.

Johny Boy you might get a little more traction if you posted to the GZG list too…

(I make fun of others)13 Mar 2012 8:41 a.m. PST

I think like many people I might buy one pack. I don't think I'd buy lots of packs, like I would soldier codes, as I'm not building an army of Crusty civilians. So I'm not sure it's fair to ask the person who's going to invest in having the models made to spend all that money for packs we might buy one of.

comstarhpg13 Mar 2012 10:15 a.m. PST

I have lots of GZG mini's from John. Alot of them are one pack like his Hunan colonists or Ship crew. But if he see lots of us wanting them one or two packs each all add up.

Cheers Matt

(I make fun of others)13 Mar 2012 10:19 a.m. PST

Alot of them are one pack like his Hunan colonists or Ship crew.

Yum, Hunan colonists, delicious. wink

TamsinP13 Mar 2012 12:29 p.m. PST

I'd be up for buying alien civvies, armed and/or unarmed

the only issue is if/when I'd ever get round to actually painting them, although that wouldn't stop me buying them!

Johny Boy13 Mar 2012 12:38 p.m. PST

I've forwarded the link to jon at GZG so hopefully he will see the response and potential and consider having a go at some civilians. i agree with comstar, it might not be a pack that sells in the same numbers as a regular pack of crusties but it could be a good regular seller. After all it does'nt stop civilian packs in other ranges, so i'm hoping it goes ahead, i'll certainly be in for a few packs.

I've put a link to this on the gruntz forum, if anyone can think of anywhere else that might benefit the cause as it were please go ahead and do so.

Cheers and all the best

Umpapa14 Mar 2012 11:22 a.m. PST

I respectfully disagree.

How many have You bought special packs? Command packs? Sniper packs? Not-SG1 packs?

Civilians and irregulars/gangers make sense only in numbers, and are he most easy to diversify packs. Just paint them differently, which in case of mlitary doesn't make sense. Civilians can easily be scratchbuilded into spies, chaplains, shamans, psionists, wizards (big hat from plasticard), diplomats, VIPs, suicide bombers, AlienJazeera reporters, hostages, civilian-mob-who-can-grow-into-irregulars etc. etc.

I know that I personally will buy 3-4 of every packs of civilians and irregulars of Felids, Garns, CMG Naga and Crusties. When they come. And I am not alone.
Probably also CMG Ys, Astaghar, Space Worms and Harook, GZG AlienMercenary, Krugens.

It would allow for many creative scenarios, even RPG, on different planet then only humans. Felid civil war, anyone?

Johny Boy14 Mar 2012 11:45 a.m. PST

Have emailed Jon at GZG and he has seen the thread and taken note of the support, however he says he needs emails to validate support for the investment and time in preparing the castings, to ensure he gets a return back. So can I ask everyone to please take a bit of time and email asking for Crustie civilians. If we all mail, I reckon it will happen.

Umpapa, I agree totally, there is huge potential here for crossing the gaming rpg divide, especially im sci fi gaming. It also opens up hugely the range of games available as opposed to a straight forward line em up and knock em down type of game.

Moderns manufacturers in 20mm and 15mm , eg Peter Pig all sport various ranges of civilians for their games, i'm sure there is an equal demand in 15mm sci fi.

Again thanks to everyone so far, time to email.

Umpapa14 Mar 2012 2:43 p.m. PST

I have mailed.

comstarhpg14 Mar 2012 5:21 p.m. PST

Also sent an email with my hopes for this to happen :)

Cheers Matt

arngrimson14 Mar 2012 5:24 p.m. PST

It probably also wouldn't hurt to place an order and add the request for things you'd like to see in the order details.
