Hi

Can anyone suggest a UK source for a more-or-less correct green spray paint for painting Russian Tanks.

I have a few to do and spraying will save a LOT of time

TIA

Pete

correct??????????? what a statement..range from a warm olive to a dark green and all shades between..take your pick

I use the Flames of War Russian Tank Green, and use GW Delvin mud wash followed by a drybrush of Vallejo russian green and then another drybrush with GW bleached bone added to the russian green

but as CH said above the Greens really varied from light to Dark through out the war

In the UK I get my sprays from either Maelstrom games maelstromgames.co.uk or Caliver books caliverbooks.com as both give free postage

I think Hawkwood has it … first you need to decide what the 'correct' colour actually is (and whether it was ever consistent in the first place, before fading and weathering) …

I suspect mostly we go too dark.

Good luck, Pete – at least it's hard to be proved wrong on this one (unless you go for that bright emerald colour AC used to hate … even so, he's not around to recoil at it!)

Guthroth,
I don't know if you can get it in the UK but, Krylon Camo Olive Green is spot on.

As I say, my suspicions are it should be a touch paler but I think it would have varied a lot.

Yes it is, if you're trying to get your tanks to look like your photos. But, as stated in several messages above, there were many variations in shades throughout the war.

I used the Krylon as the base coat for over 60 Soviet 1/76 scale tanks, and they look just fine.

Well, ya gotta weather it some too, I don't mean just spray & play! But for me, It's perfect to start with…
