Just saw these advertsied by Dave at Caliver but know nothing about them, and my TMP search did not find them (probably my seach-fu more than TMP gap).

Any info out there on these? Not a Vallejo web site, but user comments

Let's hope they are "open-topped" bottles grin

From the Vallejo website:

AV PREMIUM is a safe water-based, non toxic and highly versatile airbrush ready paint, suitable for all surfaces, but especially formulated for superior adhesion to metals, fibreglass, polyethylene, clear LexanŞ polycarbonate, slot car and RC bodies, and all tuning and automotive applications.

From what I could tell, looks like the Game Color version of their airbrush paint.

The range appears to be a new airbrush range of paints in a new style of bottle.

Actually it does not sound like that. Clear Lexan and RC car bodies require a special kind of paint. Otherwise the paint will peel of or make the plastic fog up.

Cheers,

Burkhard

You're right, Burkhard, upon further reading, it does seem to be for "tricking out" rc cars and the like.

But the spec says they can be used on metals. I am going to try the primer as a minimum.

Good, as they need a few good metallic paints.

Need to nip to Halifax tomorrow as I need some more paint so will have a look if any are there.

Craig

Try the metalics from their Model Air range, much better as it spreads more evenly.

Hi

Will do. Never seen these but will have a gander.

Thanks

What is this "acrylic polyurethane" aspect then? Any science people know what this means compared to a "normal" acrylic?

Goose66612 Mar 2012 10:06 a.m. PST

It will adhere to certainl polymers and plastics where others wont. It also gives a sligthly more flexible finnish, so you get less flacking. Better for things like RC car body shells that shake and vibrate a lot.

The local store had a small section of these come in with their latest shipment. Primarily the candies for those making model cars.

My buddy who works there said that he bought some of their opaque red for airbrushing and said it went well. Not quite as matte as their Model Air line and took a bit higher PSI. He said that they were tougher than the Model Colour line, but still probably should be varnished over.

I was about to get a bunch of Model Air, but if the colour is available, I think I'll get the Premium Colour one instead. Looks to be the same pigment with a different binder & thinner combination (probably to increase its adhesive quality for RC cars).

Not a lot in terms of military colours, but that's what the Model Air line is for, I suppose.
