We went down to Texas for a battle, and man it if wasn't Texas-big. Here's our Battle of Borodino, as fought with Battalions as the basic unit on a 25x8 table with 15mm figures and a custom ruleset. The biggest game I've ever been a part of, and probably the luckiest I'll ever be in a wargame. link By the by, feel free to comment at the end; we are looking for more opinions on what may have occurred due to how our battle turned out. If you have any questions, feel free to ask me; I'm not sure how well I can answer, but I did leave out some details to keep the review
shorter than it previously was. |

Looks great, you need a flocking party to work on those bases for next time. LOTS of Minifigs by the looks but noticed a few more modern brands. Done in a day too. Lots of fun. Thanks for the report. |

Very nicely done indeed! We will be running Borodino at Historicon in 28mm on a tabl;e roughly the same length and not quite battalion scale but close. You state the table was 8 feet wide
not quite sure how the players could maneuver troops in the center of the table (obviously, they did – I'm 6'4" and even at that 6 feet is usually considered about the widest practical for a wargames table, and for conventions we've learned to try to use 5 foot wide tables wherever possible. Good luck with your game! Hopefully Bagration and Barclay don't get as lucky with their rolls to convince the army to work together and get to grips with the French. The table was set low enough that you could lean in and reach your figures with stretching, though those of us with longer arms had to help out a bit more at times. While I agree that 6' is generally the ideal width, we game on a table that starts out as 8'x6' that we often modify out to 12'x8'. I suppose the years of practice finally paid off when we hit the big time! ;-) |

I really like how the hills were modelled, especially the slopes. Were these purchased, or did you make these yourselves? |

They look like Geo-Hex, but I could certainly be wrong. |

They are indeed Geo-Hex, which is sadly out of business. If you want to see more of what we did over the weekend, feel free to check the blog, which as some of the pictures of both his house and some of the other games we played. Most of the games only got a few pictures taken, but we did a very nice 1/285th Blackhawk down game which I believe had a lot of pictures. I'll see if someone will post that in the future. |
