Here are some pics from our recent playtest of Apocalypticum, the forthcoming post-apoc skirmish ruleset from Ganesha Games. They're the publishers of Song of Blades & Heroes, and this game uses the same basic rules engine. You can read the full report here: link

Thanks for the review. We just started playing SBH etc. and like the system a lot. Really looking forward to this new set! BTW your vehicles are great looking, but you do need to get those bikers some wasteland style choppers! grin

You're welcome! Those vehicles (and bikers) were painted by TMPer ordinarybass, who will no doubt chime in on this thread soon…! :)

My group is also testing the rules and our last battle saw plenty of outright kills. Maybe you just had some bad/good luck? Kills can be pretty frustrating when running a campaign, so maybe that is a blessing?

Throw some more gratitude on the pile. I really like seeing these sorts of playtest reports, especially on rulesets I'm likely to purchase based on publisher pedigree.

As far as low body count, could it be that you were all playing too smartly based on prior games of MDRG ? Keeping a warband going in that game takes more skill than I have, but it certainly teaches one to keep one's head down.

Looking forward to this new ruleset by Gansha, our club loved MDRG. I was a very intense campaign.

In fairness, we've only playtested the "combat core" of Apocalypticum. We've not dabbled in the campaign rules. I'm sure a lot of things will make more sense in a campaign context, including the relatively low body count.

In our group we have low (or slow) kill rates for most games due to a combination of tactically adept players and one umm…coward. Really interested in any other AAR's.

Thanks for putting that up Patrick.

For those who are interested in this game, if you like Song of Blades and Heroes, I highly recommend picking it up when it comes out. I've enjoyed the two games we've played so far and look forward to more.

In a week or so I'll post pictures with some construction tips for 3 more Post apoc cars.

ordinarybass That VW Bug is totally RAD! I will have to make one for my Leading Edge Terminator Resistance fighters.
