Hi,
I'd really like to do a War of 1812 project this year. After a lot of swithering between whether or not to do it in 28mm or 15mm I've settled on 15mm but only if Blue Moon do their range. This is partly because if they look as good as the Blue Moon AWI and Napoleonic figures they will be excellent but also because of a lack of a credible alternative range of figures in the UK. Old Glory 15's do a range of War of 1812 figures which I think coud be OK but they'd have to be specially ordered by Timecast which could take months and ordering direct from the US would be too expensive. The Minifigs range I don't like the look of (limited and stiff poses)and they are too small to match against my existing AB Napleonic British.
So could anyone from Blue Moon tell me when the War of 1812 figures will be released? Will it still be this year?
Many thanks and all the best,
George.

George,
I'm with you on this. I believe from Blue Moons last update the range was coming out this year.

He said minor nations were being released in 2013. I assume the US is one of the minor nations, but I don't know.

During all this, we will still be releasing the War of 1812, Texas War of Independence, French Foreign Legion, Gallic Wars, Early Rome and Her Enemies, Gangsters, and Three Musketeers, while finishing up the rest of our ACW range. These ranges should all be done this year.

Some how I see myself getting into the period as well once Blue Moon releases the line.

I'd like to say "Ditto Me" as well. I've got an extensive 15mm Napoleonic collection from AB, and would like to see some War of 1812 figures that will be compatible!

I don't want to see them at all. Not until at least 2015.

At that time, I'll have forgotten how much money and time I spent doing this in 25mm and I'll drink the Blue Moon Kool-Aid…..

Please, Russ, just remember to add Upper Canadian Militia in Heroic Poses. We can't keep Cousin Jonathan down without them.

Well
It's very good to see other people interested in the line as well. Here's hoping that Blue Moon are able to release the range sometime this year, hopefully by the summer. Releasing the range in the bi-centenary anniversary of the war should be a golden oppertunity to capitalise on generated interest and boost sales of the range.
All the best,
George.

I guess you could get started with the Brits that are already available in the nappies line. I plan on having the beginnings of the U.S forces out by Historicon and then just keep adding to them and the additional forces for the Brits that the nappies do not cover.

I was thinking the same thing, use the Brits to start.

Hi Russ,
Thanks for the info. Brits aren't a problem as I already have a 15mm Brirtish Napoleonic army, it's the US forces to fight them that I need. Having them out by Historicon is fine as I've got two major 15mm projects I'm thinking of doing this year, an ECW one and a War of 1812 one. If I start the ECW one first, by the time I finish it the War of 1812 figures will be out.
Historicon is also a very good release time for the US figures as the release of a range of US troops for one of its major wars at the major US wargames convention in the bicentennial year of that War all goes together very well.
Thanks to everyone else for their comments too.
All the best,
George
