Hello all well between me and my 2 friends we're planning on running some Fasa Star Trek games at some of local convention's in Northern Ca this year. It is my intention to bring Fasa Star Trek to conventions so people can play Fasa Star Trek again. In fact tomorrow we're doing a Fasa Star Trek game where I live. So is there anyone else going to do any Fasa Star Trek games in their areas? Captain Gideon |

I was thinking about busting this one out for my group. We used to play it to death way back when. |

I did not like it, the Federation is VERY overpowered in this game. It did have the best ship designs for Star Trek though. |

I'd love to, but I don't really have appropriate miniatures for it. :( |

Lots of counters on the net. |

Loooooved this game back in the day as the kids say. Agree with Inari7. FASA's designs for non-canon ships blow ADBs into space dust. |

I used to think this too. But as I got older, the more the FASA non-canon Fed designs look bizarre. SOme were pretty good, like the Larson and Anton class. But then you had all the very strange ones in the mix. Nowadays, I tend to prefer the ADB designs for the "Classic" era, not the least because some of the are Franz Joseph designs. I wish that ADB could somehow pick up the rights for some of the FASA Classic era ships, though won't hold my breath

FYI I have over 100 Fasa Star Trek minis including several ships like the following: Klingon D-20 Klingon K-27 USS Anton USS Brenton USS Thufur USS Durrett These ships are Fasa designs but Fasa NEVER made them but some nice folks out there are making them, and I have multiples of all of them. I'm also planning on running a Fasa Star Trek game at Celesticon in Aug/Sept of this year. Captain Gideon |

I still have all my counters and they are all in good condition, but running a counters based game at a miniatures convention just doesn't seem appropriate. I've definitely always liked the FASA Trek designs over any of the others out there
I really wish I had bought them long ago, but I was in high school and not particularly into painting and playing with miniatures then. :P :) |

Nowadays finding Fasa Star Trek minis is kinda hard but not impossible, but it all depends on what the sellers are asking for the minis. I started 2010 with 0 Fasa Star Trek minis and by the end of 2010 I had close to 100,and almost all of the minis came off eBay. And when you run a convention game you want it to look as visually appealing as you can get. Captain Gideon |

Funny you should mention this. This game is seeing a bit of a renaissance with our group. The reason, I think, is that it still holds up as a fun system but we've also recently discovered the plethora of 1:2500 scale Star Trek ships. While not exactly cheap, they are extremely detailed. We've collected, just over the last few weeks, a number of Klingon, Federation, and Romulan kits. Most are "movie era" versions (Reliant, Excelsior, Bird of Prey, K'tinga), which obviously work well with the FASA game. I'll probably start a blog on this project once we get some ships painted. But it is motivational to hear about other FASA Starship Combat Simulator players out there. D |

Thanks Dave I hope to add some pictures to my Photobucket account in the near future,as I did a Fasa Star Trek game over the weekend. Besides my Fasa minis I also have a similar number of StarFleet Battles minis as well. It's my intention to reintroduce Fasa Star Trek to local Conventions, and hope I can get some new players for Fasa gaming. Captain Gideon |

You can do a reasonably good job on some of the Fed ships by cut-and-paste of some MicroMachines, though you really have to be tolerant on scale issues. I've been thinking about trying to reintroduce the idea of Fleets Night at the store. If so, I'll be sure to put SCS into the mix. Doug |

Thanx for the lead, malleman, but it seems on that website they are interested more in close approximations of the FASA ships – no doubt to avoid copyright issues that many people think are a non-issue now! There sure aren't any of these designs showing up anymore in ST! I am still seeking Resin copies of those originals I mentioned, since the owners are perfectly understandably unwilling to part with their originals! I was hoping Capt. Gideon might be able to do something, but
. Could somebody PLEASE hook me up with those 3 models
I've been searching for 2 months now, and voluntarily dropped out of an eVILBay that was $50 USD for an unopened Nova. |
