Just put a tutorial (and examples) of how I paint Red coats on my blog. This was the method I used to paint Sedgemoor figs shown in recent postings.

For those interested blog is at themetalmountain.blogspot.com

Very useful tips. I am painting French SYW Generals and staff, who wear red waistcoats and breeches. Staff figures I am painting all red to offset the large quantity of blue coats.

Cheers,

Awesome work. Do you know if your method of oil washing over enamel and wiping it off specifically works for enamel basecoats?

I tried the technique over an airbrushed acrylic basecoat and the cloth was pulling paint off the mini.

I was considering doing a coat of future before the wash, but I think that part of the effect is from the wash tinting the matte enamel base coat?

Thoughts?
