Like everyone else, I had heard of Khalkin Gol and Nomonhan. But I had not heard of the Battle of Lake Khasan. There's a scenario in there, if more OB information was available:

Actually, there is moderate amount of information available. A 409 page book is at least a start: link

includes unit designations. (The 39th Rifle Corps is controlling the 32nd and 40th Rifle Divisions)

(Remember, Khalkin Gol and Nomonhan are the same battle, just the Mongolian (Soviet) and Japanese names for the region/battle.)

Note: the bug hit as I was editing this. Suddenly, everything I was writing was replace by something about painting Rhohrimm (sp?)
