Hi all! Does anyone know which edition of Warhammer Fantasy the Slann army Skinks acquired bows? They don't have them in the 3rd edition army lists (unless there was a White Dwarf update on the army I don't know of) If you do know, how many points were they worth? Were there any equipment options for them? Were they armed with Short bows or normal bows? (I'm guessing they weren't longbows!!!) lol I'm not purchasing an army book just for this!!! ha ha Thanks for your help! Ryan |

Shortbows, I think poisoned, as standard equipment, in the Bretonian vs Lizardman WFB box release – 4th? |

It's 5th ed Warhammer. 4th ed had High Elves vs Goblins with cardboard cutouts for war machines and monsters and plastics for infantry. However, 4th ed cut both the Brettonian and Slann armies. As for points cost
that was a long time ago. I think they were about the same cost as goblins (4-6pts?). Equipment options were pretty thin, and I think they were short bows. They didn't come with poison, but it was cheap so it was pretty much a given that you would take them with poison arrows. Take all of that with a grain of salt. Haven't played WHFB for years so memories are faint. |

5th – the Skinks and Brettonians. I should know, I was a emergency manager moving from store to store in the month either side of the release, and each new store I arrived at I would go "you painted the stuff in 5th yet? NO??? GODDAMN – give 'em here." I caculated I painted at least 400 skinks, 200 saurus in that period. IIRC a Saurus was about 14, a skink 5 Pat |

Cheers guys. Looks like I'll be retro fitting the models to 3rd's lists. Although where I'm going to find Aligator/Eagle/Jaguar warrior Lizardmen, I have no idea!!! lol |

Oh, you're meaning to proxy skinks for Slann? To get the different types (Alligator/Eagle/Jaguar) I'd just differentiate them by body paint/tattoos. |

Skink Master: Fortunately, for a 1000pt 3rd edition army, I wont need that many! Venusboy: I most certainly am. Well, I will be when I get my High Elves and Bretonnians completed (whenever that will be) I picked up 20 skinks for a fiver the other day, all bow armed, which unfortunately isn't in the 3rd edition Slann army, but I'm sure it will be easy enough to slot them in. Very good idea on the body painting though. I must admit I hadn't considered doing that. |

How hard to clip off those bows and stick blowguns in their hands? |

Since the skinks are a bit on the weeny side, perhaps you could treat them as pygmies (ally contingent). |

I could do Venus. It's easier to write in the bows into the list though! lol Griefbringer: I was thinking they would fit in well for the Venom Tribes, Jungle Braves, or possibly scouts. Then use the Saurus warriors for all of the others

"Although where I'm going to find Aligator/Eagle/Jaguar warrior Lizardmen, I have no idea!!! lol" You mean these?
Obviously frogmen not lizards! Skink archers would be a hard fit, they are too small to pass as 3rd ed lisardmen who can't have bows anyhow. Best use them as jungle braves with weedy bows that therefore sub as blow pipes. Use the Saurus as your Slan warrior elites. Oh and yes those Slann are mine and no you can't have them. |
