As others have said have dedicated painting area and leave it set up. That way if you have a spare couple of minutes you can use them for painting not getting everything set up. Don't worry if your not getting a lot done if your happy with the results. If your not happy with the results paint more and try different methods but use castings your not worried about "wasting". I'm a bit obsessive about organisation so inks for washes are in one tray paints in another tools in a third etc. that makes it easy to move the stuff I need to a position where I can use it without having to reach past stuff. I want to get a balance between having a reasonable result and getting figures onto the table. So the key is to go for the detail you would see on e real person at around 300 metres distance. Take some time observing people to see exactly what stands out. Go watch some historical re-enactors or look for photos on the web to get a feel for the look of troops from your period. Only look at others work for inspiration NOT as a comparison. Above all keep painting. |

Having reliable gaming buddies/ckub members/store opponents to keep you motivated to paint. |

Dante's Patented "Hit and Run" Technique. ;-}P~ Seriously--I hit a few minis with some primer then go to another batch and do a bit of detailing or color blocking (depending on what stage they're already at). I'll go work on some terrain pieces, then I'll circle back to the newly primed minis and do a bit of work on those. I turn out a lot more work that way any other way I've tried. |

Maybe multi-tasking? I can spend quality time with my girlie talking and still paint. Granted I'm not going to paint as quickly, but I can still do it. |
