An enquiry last year brought a very muted response. I wonder if more people have now read them and would recommend them. After all, there are not many modern books in English on this topic.

I read them last year and my impression was quite favorable. It's been long enough, and with enough books in between, that I can't make specific comments about why I enjoyed them but I do recall liking them.
