Since Superglue takes so long to set in this tmeperature and humidity, I just put some wheels in a True North truck axle. The hole was larger than the pin, so the leaned at an awkward angle. So, I did what I usually do, I shoved the tarp truck top up against them to keep them perpindicular as the glue set. It occurred to me that I do this all the time. I use soldiers with bayonets on their muskets to prop up awkward poses while the glue sets on their bases. I have used trucks of the right height to hold wings on planesa at the right angle while the glue sets. Do you let your minis "help out"? |

Well, no but yes. Not for superglue. For me, superglue that doesn't set immediately is going to come apart anyway, so a temporary propup is just a house of cards. If I think superglue will work and want to force it to set, I use a drop of CA accelerant. I do frequently need to arrange parts to hold themselves together while glue sets, e.g, epoxy or craft glue. And it has to survive being moved since I usually work on a tray that has to be put away. So I usually use something sticky: clamps or rubber bands or masking tape or poster putty, sometimes stretching the cutout of a foam figure storage tray. Or sometimes a dot of superglue inside a doughnut bead of the other glue -- when this works it bonds the parts together long enough for the real glue to cure. |

Yes all of the time. Especially if I need something to stay at a certain angle while the glue completely cures. I also use things like paint brushes to prop up turrets and things to keep them "level" while ink dries etc. That way I don't get ink pooling in the wrong places. |

I in with the All The Time crew – mostly because they are what is most handy for those awkward moments waiting for the glue to set |

As needed. Some reserves are used just for that. Lego frames also help on tank barrels and larger models. |

Frequently (though not usually dealing with CA). Rob |

Of course, but they want to be paid overtime and have holidays off. |

I just think that it's amazing what a bayonet under your chin can do for your posture. |

Yep, whenever possible. If it makes the assembly process flow better, then I'm all for using it. |

I have bought a heavy based thingie with alligator clips just for this problem, and I still use miniatures to prop up miniatures. |

Yeah, I bought the "heavy based thingie with alligator clips" too. Used it exactly once. Besides using minis, my favorite support is paint bottles. |

I prefer just to glue myself to the minis, and the gently extract myself from the mix, once the bond has set

By "prefer" I mean "what usually happens" |
