Hello,

I am looking for a color match. Using Vallejo Airbrush Colors

thewarstore.com/VallejoModelAirColors.html

What would be the closest match without mixing for the Cold War German Olive Yellow color. The models below provide examples of what I am looking for.

I don't need perfect just close enough. The color reminds me of German WWII field green uniforms.

Thanks

This does not neccessarily answer your question, but I custom mix my own Gelboliv with Tamiya paints (from a formula I found on the 'net), and I do not use any grey in it. It's more like a lighter olive drab than field grey…

Now, I will admit to being slightly colorblind, but what part of this color:

is Yellow or Olive?!?

I didn't make up the name! Ask the Bundeswehr…

Edit: link

But it does look olive to me, even if my computer screen doesn't reproduce it perfectly…

Looks like GW Catachan Green or close to it.

Another thing to keep in mind, the example pictures are models, and we have no idea if the painter even knew what the accurate color really is to begin with. Also it seems at least some German vehicles were repainted in just the bronze green of the 3-color scheme, and that color is much more green rather than olive in color…

Thank you for the information.

The color may not be accurate but for 15mm forces I like the look it would acheive.

I will look for Vallejo 897 (98)

Yeah … looks about right … I'm using Howard Hues German Uniform 1720 paint … for … well units in German colored uniforms … It kind of reminds me almost of an Olive Drab …

I must say that none of the models shown above look like Bundeswehr Gelboliv. I used to see Bundeswehr & Luftwaffe vehicles most days here in Wales (particularly when in the RAF and sharing a base with them) and the colour was a weird cow-pat-like, brownish-yellowish-green.
