If you were to begin a fantasy RPG campaign today, which ruleset would you use? |

Still love the old 2nd edition RUNEQUEST. |

RoleMaster 2nd edition in a perfect world. However, these days I'd go for Runequest/BRP. |

Is CoC a FRPG? Or a different genre? Otherwise. Bushido. |

Depending on the tone, either Savage Worlds for simple hack n slash, Mongoose Legend for a sandbox design-your-own-world or 2nd edition wfrp if I wanted an out of the box rules set and background. |

There are four I have been muling over. Savage worlds. Legends of Anglerre. The One Ring. Fantasy Craft. Really I just have to get off my butt and decide on something. Cheers. GeorgeD |

HeroQuest (not the boardgame). Or perhaps old, pre-mongoose, RQ2. Or Burning Wheel. But I already have a Savage Worlds and an AD&D1 campaign going, so I'll stick with those for a while. |

Depends on the time I had to devote to playing and the group Either "The Fantasy Trip" or Runequest With the right group Original D&D I was looking at "Castles and Crusaders" the other day – curious about it – may have to try that |

Let's see. D&D 3.0 brought RPGs back to my group after years of gap. 3.5 seems to have killed the thing, and Pathfinder has been enjoyed but has not recovered the whole group and the mood. I'd like to play Warhammer Fantasy because I love the grittiness of it. However my choice and desire are less important than my player's willingness to play and when willing to play their willingness to try something. |

BRP with a homebrew setting. Alternatively WFRP (1~2, NOT 3). |
Captain Oblivious | 13 Feb 2012 9:16 a.m. PST |
Savage Worlds. Ran a game for my son and his friends. Picked out Orcslayer (old Man-to-Man/Gurps adventure), re-read first scene, converted, made up 8 characters in under 1 1/2 hours. Every character was unique, and all had a great time playing. |

I'm running a AD&D 3.5 campaign now, but our group often alternates with my friend's GURPS fantasy game. Another friend is urging Pathfinder on us, so we'll probably give that a go at some point. I like all the rules mentioned above, so it would be one of those rulesets. |

I've just started running a Pendragon campaign (awesome) but if I was going to run something more classically fantasy I'd use the new version of Advanced Fighting Fantasy. |

The One Ring. We're wrapping up a 4e campaign next week, and after a short break will most likely run The One Ring. Really neat system and the first frpg to really "get" and encourage a Tolkien feel in the game. |
boy wundyr x | 13 Feb 2012 10:34 a.m. PST |
Iron Gauntlets for a meatier campaign, Broadsword for simpler fare. Either a Sword and Sorcery setting (Howard's Kull), Warhammer setting, or the Dragon Warriors world (an underappreciated setting, game was ok too). Chris |

2nd Ed. AD&D. Been playing it since it came out. No need to upgrade since. The rules are in the background, and their complexity is part of their charm. The rest is between me, and my players, all telling a fun, and enjoyable story together. Cheers! |
cloudcaptain | 13 Feb 2012 11:21 a.m. PST |
2nd Ed. AD&D here too. I make converts of those who find that 3.5 and later tends to be too heroic from the start and dislike keeping up with so many books. |
corporalpat | 13 Feb 2012 11:26 a.m. PST |
MERP/Rolemaster. I am running a Middle Earth campaign right now. It is highly modified of course, and for big battles, I'm using TSATF! |

Ok, if I had to choose for a long campaign I would probably use something akin to Fudge or the Ubiquity system (if they did fantasy) because my several year campaigns were more novels than dice rolling games. For pure dice rolling, I would go with Dragon Age because I hate the linear aspect of anything d20. I'd also sneak in WHFRPG 2.0. |
