Has anyone done, or khow of, a conversion of plastic figures to French Chasseur a Cheval. Seems there's plenty of choice for hussars, but the more common Chasseurs are no where to be found. I don't mind converting if its feasable. Any thoughts from the gallery???

You could do the 1st and 5th chasseurs a chevals using the perry plastics hussars as all officers and NCOs wore the pelisse and dolman and barrel sash. In the morning after work I will take a look at my uniform guide from historie and collections on chasseurs a chevals. I think from pictures I have this goes up at least 1809.

OffWell according to my officers and soldiers of french chasseurs a cheval 1779 to 1815 that all officers of the chasseurs a cheval at least the pre french empire could wear the hussar uniform and even in this book it shows many officers wearing the hussar uniform for full dress. Lasalle when commanding 22nd in egypt wore a hussar uniform in green with orange facings and the book shows the whole regiment wearing the hussar uniform from a print by JOB. The barrel sash is green and orange abd lasalles is green and silver. The 21st in orange and white barrel sash and light orange facings by JOB 1795 to 1800. Also another picture of the 10th chasseurs in 1799 in hussar uniform with red facings and flamme hat by lienhart and humbert. They all wear either the felt hat with or without the visor called the mirliton with a pennon called I believe flamme in the regiments facing colors. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the feedback folks. I play Peninsula games, 28MM. Dragoons and Chasseurs were the most numerous cavalry. If i do surgery to Perry dragoons and hussars, I may as well pay for the metal, I think. I have 1 regiment already, Front Rank. I was looking to get another to form a Brigade.

Don't forget the 13eme Cuirassiers served in Spain…

If you're OK with metal, the Perry Bardin/1812-era Chasseurs paint up pretty well:

From this last post, it could be guessed that Perry French hussar legs, which come separate and in boot and overall versions, can be used instead of the dragoon original ones (careful chopping as dragoons have their legs attached – it sounds weird).
Maybe then the surplus foot dragoons can make for a horseless regiment/s… Or with careful trimming and head swapping, for something else… Anyway they make for a neatg look.

Great pictures of the Perry's. What the heck, I may go both routes. Who painted the Perry's?

I painted the Perry's. (I don't usually post photos of other people's work.) grin
