Hi, I'm looking for non-humanoid "clunky" looking robots of a certain whimsical type, not exactly shoddily made, but kind of non-threatening at first glance. I'm going to expand my BATTLESUIT idea (see here: link ) by creating a scenario of man-to-man versus goofy looking SF robots. Kind of crossing RIVETS (metagaming) with BATTLESUIT (steve jackson games). Not goofy in the big eyeball sense, more like something out of Vaughn Bode.

Any ideas? Thanks very much in advance.

Check eBay for 25mm and 28mm Sci-Fi.

There are some there that should fit your needs, for a reasonable cost, if you're looking for retro style bots.

Mega Miniatures (The J.D. Lauk guy) makes some good goofy looking individual robots, but I was looking for something that would make good military units, like the Vaughn Bode machine wars strips, if that rings a bell..

I was going to recommend the MegaMinis robot packs, but they are 25/28mm.

Would the star wars power droid be along the lines of what you want (box on 2 short legs)?

These fellows are about 15mm high, if I recall:

Perhaps a bit bigger, from Robo-Rally:

Hi Walt. I built a bunch of my own, from parts out of my bits bin. Have a look here:

There are follow-on posts on my blog, following that one, with detailed photos and lists of the parts used for each. Hope this helps.

Why do I have the urge to build bots now?
