Thank you! Glad i'm not the only one. These are great figs with a number of uses. they are also simple figs but not in a negative "lazy way out" sort of way. I could see them painted in bright colors or with squad markings or any combination thereof. -Eli |

Jeff, Steve has the fourth fireteam now, as well as the Satrapal Levies (six-man squad of human troopers on foot that make up the bulk of the Jasmine throne armies), so hopefully soon. Spacejacker has kindly painted the JTFB tanker halves so all that would then be outstanding is the queen model, which was sculpted by Tom Meier and was recently sent off to the caster. |

sheesh – I apologised for using 'rip off' – but apart from that, all I said is myself, and my friend (the harook sculptor) both looked at them and the first thing we saw were tyrannids. I never said I didn't like them or I thought it was illegal or anything like that. FFS, I LOVE the Khurusan stuff. People have opinions folks, deal with it. |

Great news John! @alien BLOODY HELL surfer My comment was in general before things went somewhere more unpleasant. I hope you are working hard to encourage your visitor to sculpt a lot of new stuff! Jeff |

Jeff – yup, just people offer him money to sculpt their stuff first before mine – what's the point of having a tame, housetrained sculptor if he expects payment? ;-p |

Hi guys, I'm the sculptor that had the pleasure to sculpt the Harook and would like to make something clear, after reading this thread. When AlienSurfer showed me these great new minis from Khurasan I confess my first comment was – Cool they are like the new nids Guards
That was my first impression, but since Im somewhat biased towards all things bug and nid and alien I went back and checked and still think they share a big and the most relevant parts of nid design
and thats it period! I will not go in details into explaining why these new 15mm's triggered my Nid senses, everyone has a different perspective on design. But to clear things, I'm only interested about the conceptual design. The IP, the Business nonsenses are not on my table and being a very seasoned designer I KNOW for a fact that anyone creating something always bases their works on their personal memories and sometimes even when trying to make something unique we create something similar to other works, totally unintentional but it happens all the time. As for Harooks and what i'm sculpting atm, lets leave that for other threads, this one is about some cool Khurasan aliens that I will buy for sure and in no way my personal perception towards the design hints anything but just that. Internet is like that, me and Aliensurfer were having a totally relaxed chat about these but on a forum since you cannot see the people and the tone of the chat usually a lot of the meaning and aim of the chat is lost. AlienSurfer thats unfair I started sculpting some Xenomorphs for you a couple days back man! No more beer for ya! XP |

started, started – it should be finished by now so I can paint it – you know how little stuff left I have left in my collection to paint (whistles innocently) LOL ;-) now stop reading TMP, Frothers, Beasts of War etc and get sculpting – honestly, sculpters, you turn your back for a minute and they're browsing forums again ;-) LOL |

Its not my fault people insist on publishing new alien minis on forums, thank god I'm broke XD Besides looking at minis it's kind of working
sort of. I don't even dare on clicking on Khurasan minis new updated site its a dangerous thing! |

I'll whip up a "Bathy Gig" ranch out on the colony of Obscurantus IV as the latest addition to my 15mm sci-fi scenery inventory so fast it'll make yer head spin clean off

Hey Khurasan, any word on the Stikk and their supporting forces coming out this month? I need to send you more of my money! |
khurasanminiatures | 16 Mar 2012 4:49 p.m. PST |
JTFB is next -- I may wait until the Skuttler tank is re-cast to release the Stikks. |
ski2060 | 16 Mar 2012 5:16 p.m. PST |
Problems with the Skuttler, or just waiting for production casts? And fine! Be that way ;) I need some time to get all the crap I have unpainted into a painted state anyways. |
khurasanminiatures | 17 Mar 2012 9:02 a.m. PST |
I didn't like the castings on got on the Skuttler. Mold slippage and lots of print lines still on them. I had the pieces remade and will probably have them remoulded and recast soon. If you look carefully at the Skuttler pics you can see the considerable mould slippage on the pieces. Nothing in this business is harder than getting good resin castings of 3D sculpts. But I'm working on it. |
palaeoemrus | 19 Mar 2012 7:36 p.m. PST |
The guncrabs looks kind of like bipedal glyptodonts(giant prehistoric armadillo/sloth thing) to me rather than arthropodc critters. I might put some furry ears on 'em.
|
Der Krieg Geist | 19 Mar 2012 7:54 p.m. PST |
Can you tell me how many mm tall the gun crabs are? Would they loke silly fighting against 28mm human infantry? |
republic of tolworth | 29 Jun 2012 2:40 a.m. PST |
Jon how far along are you with these guncrabs? My Plutonians need some heavy assault crustacia! |
khurasanminiatures | 29 Jun 2012 5:03 a.m. PST |
I'm waiting still for the resin castings of the Skuttler and then all of the Stikks will be released together. Good news is the Skuttler is already painted -- I had the very poor quality resin castings I got initially painted up. That bad experience I had with a resin caster I tried out last year continues to dog me. |

I think they're rather cute. But I do have a 'soft' spot for most crustacia and mollusc. |

Pill bugs are crustaceans, but Leland I don't suggest breaking out the clarified butter, as from what I've read they are toxic! (The oceanic versions may be as well, don't have any idea.) |

From what I've read and what I've been told, they're something of a delicacy in the Far East, specifically in Taiwan where these oceanic glorified pill bugs are served up steamed. I've placed these on my proverbial bucket list, as I've a deep love affair with seafood, and Leland's Rule of Food is simply a matter of who (or what) gets who first! Leland R. Erickson |

Well, if oceanic travel is also on your bucket list, and your ship has the misfortune to sink, your Rule of Food may end up working against you. |

"In other news today, details continue to emerge concerning a passenger liner that went down off the coast of South Africa. Survivors interviewed by this network claim they are certain that one of the first class passengers still reported as missing was last seen wrestling with a massive Great White Shark. The man was according to survivors armed only with a pair of chopsticks and a bottle of soy sauce, yet seemed to be holding his own when the embattled pair of man and giant shark were last seen disappearing under the waves."

Lovely figures. Hope they get released soon so I get more stuff to paint on my summer holiday. |
khurasanminiatures | 30 Jun 2012 1:00 p.m. PST |
My understanding is that the castings of the Skuttler will be to me soon, so the entire range, Stikk infantry, their light gunship, the tank (skuttler) and the assault troops (guncrabs) will be available as soon as I get those! What I love about the Stikk line infantry is the attention to detail that the sculptor put into them, being that he's very interested in biology and paleontology. |
republic of tolworth | 30 Jun 2012 2:16 p.m. PST |
You better stock up, I can see these flying out! |
khurasanminiatures | 30 Jun 2012 2:23 p.m. PST |
I have good stock of everything actually! Even the Skuttler, tbh, but those are castings that would reflect badly if I were to sell them, so I'm waiting for the redo. I had a wonderful time building the Skuttler I had painted -- it's a bit of a modeling job but the model is really stunning when completed. JBR did his usual magic on the piece. |
artbraune | 30 Jun 2012 2:56 p.m. PST |
@Jon – you are such a tease! Seriously – what sort of bribe do we need to offer to get some guncrabs??? |
bensculpt | 06 Jul 2012 11:03 a.m. PST |
I was just sort of sketching in putty when i designed this guy, never went in with the idea of coming up with a not-tyranid guy. i probably would do things slightly different if i were to do more, but that's generally true of everything I do. |
khurasanminiatures | 06 Jul 2012 11:16 a.m. PST |
What Ben is saying here is that the model is perfect and cannot possibly be improved on! |
republic of tolworth | 06 Jul 2012 11:25 a.m. PST |
Ha ha! So perfect, can we have some, pleeease! |
khurasanminiatures | 06 Jul 2012 11:44 a.m. PST |
I am still waiting for the Skuttler castings. Once I get them I will release all the Stikk stuff. |
republic of tolworth | 06 Jul 2012 11:48 a.m. PST |
I know I know, pesky skuttler! Mind you I will be getting those as well. Centipede death all round. Don't suppose any new Plutonians will ever be on the horizon? |
