Righty oh! As I said the other day, between all those little ideas running through my head I thought I'd better put them all in one place for others to have a nose at, so without further ado:

There we go… thoughts, comments and constructive criticism welcome!

I like your color choices for uniforms. In 1:1 scale they will look great. Washes do help a lot.

Cheers Redroom, It'll probably take a few more tries before I get them to look as I want but I think it's getting close already!

joined – it will be interesting to see how your blog develops

Thanks Tamsin, I'll be posting quite regularly and I'll try to keep it varied as well – hope you enjoy it!

One suggestion I see would be to get a finer grade of ballast. I found when I went from 28mm to 15 mm I had to get an almost fine sand to use. It's just rough enough to use as plain dirt or to highlight it green for grass if I don't flock.

Hi Doug – been thinking the same thing myself – the bases are a bit, well, chunky looking… I'll pop down to hobbycraft tomorrow and get some finer stuff.

Cheers!

@ Doug – put a post up showing the alternative base type – let me know if it's any better, think I need to work on the bases as they are letting me down a bit…

Hi, those space demons look really splendid! That's more or less exactly the way I imagined the models to look when they were painted.

isdblues15 Feb 2012 2:55 p.m. PST

Khurasan – The minis are so good I thought the best way to do them was simple – just let the sculpt do the work, black spray paint, gloss coat for the shine, job done.

They are fantastic minis, I cannot state just how good they are.

Did put purple tongue things on the mouth parts and had to give one some stripes to differentiate the "lead" alien, other than that, nowt.

Thanks for the sculpt and I'm glad you liked them!

More updates on my Blog, and I have a cunning plan for when I eventually start on The Thing minis – for bases, would polyfiller do the job? It's white, has a vaguely snow-like look you can achieve and can be as rough or smooth as you like… thoughts?

Felonmarmer19 Feb 2012 6:22 a.m. PST

Polyfiller is good, I tend to mix in some PVA with it as well to help stop cracking.

Oooh – tidy stuff! Have a feeling that I'll be trying out some Hoth-esque bases soon…
