So I'm painting 40mm ACW for skirmish, and looked at the S&S site just to get some inspiration, and they have a gallery of sevral ACW games in 40mm, and they look fantastic.

So With a 16x6 foot table I would do 40mm ACW game at 1:20 scale, corps size.

I plan to build an 8x4 table by Christmas, assuming my employment situation improves by then. But I can ONLY dream about a 16x6…Austerlitz in 6mm at 1:5 or maybe 1:10.

House rebuild!

I would go for a wooded area leading to hills in the back with a farm and river at the front

Great for fantasy games

Lose a couple of inches off my waistline so I could reach the middle of a 6' table.

28mm Napoleonic. And I'd still put too much lead on the table for the space available.

"Lose a couple of inches off my waistline so I could reach the middle of a 6' table".

No need to do that.

Just get some of the rigging like they did for the Spiderman play in NY!

Surely, they've perfected that by now – pay no attention to the rumors/news of the guy(s) falling to the stage from high on up. It might pay to make sure you have your health insurance paid up though, just in case, and mind the sharp pikes and bayonets on the troops below, if you do take a dive.

I here AFLAC is very good!

They'll probably even pay to have someone come over and move your troops on the tabletop for you, should you accidentally break an arm, or shoulder.

On the plus side, perhaps the person you get to hire to help with your wargaming might turn out to be an excellent minis painter too. If so, it'll be a win-win situation!

Funny I had a 12' x 6' table in my game room when I used to do 28mm Colonials. Then I switched to 15s and smaller games. Tore the table apart and put in more shelving units and been much happier.

we have a 13x6ft table and sometimes that is too small for our larger games, we then have to hire a bigger room to have a 24x6 game!

I have a 12x6 table. Put it together about 5 or 6 years ago. If I had a longer arm reach, i'd go for 14x8, but enough is enough. With 28mm Napoleonics, I find the 12x6 table perfect. I play GdBde, no more than Corps size army per side and it works.

Again, if I had a longer arm reach, I'd go bigger, but I prefer the comfort of the 12x6. 16x6 would allow for more flanking movement, but the 6' depth sometimes ls lacking when I want to portray reserves, HQs, baggage parks, etc.
