A bit. Bought the plane tickets, had the hotel reservations, arranged the rent car and pre-registered.

We are going up early to look at land in Adams and Franklin counties since retirement is a few years ahead.

Now that the GIANTS are SUPERBOWL CHAMPS & clearly demonstrated that they ARE BETTER than Brady & the Patriots, I'm ready for Cold Wars!!!

epturner11 Feb 2012 7:43 a.m. PST

I just have to finish the terrain for my War of 1812 game. I will be there Thursday.

You're right – life isn't fair. Not everyone has a beautiful 6yo that they can see the "Fresh Beat Band" with. Some of us have to try for a distant second with Cold Wars. :)

You're a wise man.

If by fever you mean bouts of anxiety, followed by full blown panic attacks about getting projects done for my game, then yes.

I've got two projects I can wrap up today, and then I can focus on the one item to help bolster the miniatures wargaming economy: my tax return.

John Michael Priest13 Feb 2012 10:18 a.m. PST

Im ready to go. Have my grandson involved in gaming now.

Moe the Great13 Feb 2012 1:30 p.m. PST

@ The Purple – How's my game coming. :)

I am still working on my "Zombies Guide to Buffalo" game but should be done in time.

I also have stuff to get together for the flea market.

So much stuff, so little room in the car..

It's true life isn't fair! My 8-year old daughter's birthday is the Friday of Cold Wars, but my wife moved her sleep-over birthday party up a week so I could be there for it AND the convention! I was willing to let her have it the same weekend, but she has plans for me for the birthday, mostly involving moving furniture, lifting heavy objects, and last-second trips to the store for things forgotten I think!

I will say that I liked the "Fresh Beat Band" better back when they were the "Jump-Arounds"! Something about that name and copyright infringement or such made them change it…

Back to the original message….

I'm still working on my FoW forces for the Tournament, and have a little bit of painting and terrain-making to do for the game I'm running. Not panicing…YET!

epturner14 Feb 2012 1:23 p.m. PST

Moe;
If Jimmy is being Jimmy, it's probably all over the place and nowhere close to being done.

Or done in a different scale than you talked about….

skinkmasterreturns, I have to hand it to you! My sons being adults, I was not at all familiar with "The Fresh Beat Band", so I Googled them. Your daughter is a very lucky girl to have a dad who'd sacrifice Cold Wars for the show! I did my share of "kid oriented" shows when they were little, and now one is in Denver and the other in New York City…someday all one has is the memories of those silly shows…worth every second you spend! I applaud your sacrifice.

epturner and Jimmy da Purple: What will be the names of your 1812 games? I'd like to look for them.

J M Priest: how lucky to have a grandson to share a hobby with! Were his dad (or mom) into gaming too or did it skip a generation?

epturner15 Feb 2012 1:36 p.m. PST

Karl:
My games are "A Mere Matter of Marching", "The Battle of Maguaga", and "Push On, Brave York Volunteers!".

They all made the PEL.

Eric, Let's hope it's the later.. Nothing would be scarier to some 15mm Russians than some 28mm Zeds.

firstvarty197915 Feb 2012 2:35 p.m. PST

Game(s) I'm co-running are in the PEL as shown below. We've been running BAB for a while, but this is a brand new scenario for us.

S-234 – Miller's Cornfield – Antietam, 17 September 1862
Sat. 10:00 AM, 4 hrs, 12 players
GM: John McConnell with John Wilk and NOVAG American Civil War 28mm, Rules: Brother Against Brother
Refight the contest over the bloodiest patch of ground on America's bloodiest day. Union and Confederate regiments marched into The Cornfield starting at first light, each side receiving reinforcements intended to sway the fighting their way, and to ultimately give them control of the field. Skirmish gaming on a large scale, but built for speed! Age 15 or older if not accompanied by an adult.
