Is there any reason I shouldn't take advantage of this deal link and get the new mini-rulebook for £10.00 GBP rather than the huge sum they will probably charge for the hardback? I'm really not bothered about it not being hardback, or about the forces or hobby books, therefore, can anyone think of a reason as to why I shouldn't buy it? |

Rumor has it that this version is poorly bound and quick to lose pages. It is however free if you already have a copy of V.2 If you opt for it, you might want to factor in the cost of having it ring bound at your local Kinko's. |

Poorly bound and sheds pages? Sounds like their hardback too (at least my copy). |
| VonTed | 10 Feb 2012 4:03 p.m. PST |
The mini and full sized are totally identical rules in every way (except size that is). If you have V2 hardback you get the mini for free, if you can buy the smaller one and have no need for the two supplements – then of course this is a no brainer. Do it. |

I have the V2 mini rulebook and it fell apart pretty quickly, but I wasn't fussed because I had it sliced and spiral-bound anyway. I think it cost $4. USD I very much prefer a spiral-bound book anyway. |

If you don't want Forces or Hobby, then go for it. Having not yet seen the hardback I can't say the books are the same, right now I assume they are. |

Rumor has it that this version is poorly bound and quick to lose pages. That's no rumor. If you get one of the V3 Minis your next stop needs to be Office Depot, Staples, etc for immediate front and back page lamination and spiral binding of the whole book. I was going to get mine sprial bound anyway as I like to be able to lay it flat and open to any page. Cheers, VB |

Depending on the quality of your eyesight, you may find the mini rule book a bit squinty. |
| Heisler | 10 Feb 2012 7:00 p.m. PST |
It cost me $6.50 USD to spiral bind and have the front and back cover laminated. Since it was free for me, I could have cared less that the pages were already falling out. |

Got mine spiral bound before I even started reading it. I did that with the last version, and I highly recommend it. |

"Rumor has it that this version is poorly bound and quick to lose pages." I thought this was fact now. I have 11 FoW books from V1 and V2 and they're all poorly bound and lost pages within 2 weeks. One of them lost a page the same day I bought it! |

Just go to Staples and ask for the big stapeler. Then staple close to the binding, pages will never come loose after that. |

For those of you without a V2 rulebook I want to mention that thewarstore.com is offering a free v3 mini rulebook with a FoW purchase, just add the free item to your cart as you would other items. |

My Staples told me they would not spiral bound my copy! (said the glue was ruining their cutting blades). Kinkos had no problem, $2 USD |

It's pretty sad when you buy a book and know it is going to fall apart. Maybe they should just spiral bind the books and knock 10+ dollars off the price. |

Retailers hate spiral bound books. They're just about impossible to display well |

Got the mini rulebook today and was very impressed. Full color, etc. etc. Just smaller. |

I got my rulebook bound – in a serendipitous turn of events, the guy who I gave the book to was a wargamer as well (small world!). He played 15mm AWI, but he said he had been interested in 15mm WWII for a while, and had gotten quite a few FoW minibooks in the past week or so. |

I heard that if you had bought the hardback 2nd editionyou could get a free update. Is this so ? What if your source was Amazon ? |

My local office store couldnt spiral bind my book -- it was too thick for the rings they had :( |

I believe you need to contact BF directly. Cheers, VB |

This is the original deal: bring the hardback to your local game shop that sells FoW products, they put a sticker inside the front cover showing that you have gotten your v3 book, and you get the mini-book for free. Note that this does not have to be the place where you bought it. Of course, if you don't have a game store handy, you probably will have to contact BF directly. This was my situation when the v2 mini-book came out and I got mine through the mail, free of charge. LT |

As long as you promise you already have the 2ed rules, thewarstore.com will throw in a 3rd edition book with any Flames of War purchase. |
| VonBurge | 13 Feb 2012 9:08 a.m. PST |
As long as you promise Two of my friends made online orders with the Warstore to explictly get the V3 mini book. I don't think they were ever questioned on whether they had the V2 hardback or not, only one did BTW. |

Office Max- $5.75 USD to have the book spiral bound in a rather fetching red, with clear plastic covers on the front and back. |

Really cool to get a free useful copy of the 3rd edition rules – thanks Battlefront for being stand up folks when updating material Scott |

Maelstrom games are doing a free copy of the V3 mini rulebook with any FOW order. Mine arrived this morning

Got my FREE V3 rule book. Immediately took it down to Staples and they laminated the front/back covers and coil bound it for me. Makes it much more accessible on the game table and easier to use. Let me say that this FREE book is better quality than most every other company's books they charge for. EVERY PAGE IN COLOR. Well layed out. Full rules, nothing left out. For FREE. Absolutely blows my mind. Don't want to imagine what this must have cost them. Thank you, BF! |

Just got my FOW V3 mini spiral bound in Staples in reading in the UK. £4.44 GBP very good job highly recommended. |
| Guthroth | 18 Feb 2012 7:06 a.m. PST |
The b*stards at my local Staples refused to do it. From what the 'manager' said it was too much trouble – just being a lazy a*se*ole I suspect. Anybody got any other UK suggestions ? |

Mine will be presented to me Sunday. I am girding my loins for a lot of bitching and moaning. |

I hate Staples. I got good service at the FedEx/Kinkos getting mine bound. Added a hard vinyl back cover to help against wear and tear. Total cost just over $8. USD |

Saw a copy at my club today and after 1 game it was already coming apart. Really poor quality binding. |
