As a curiosity, this is a german link about the Old West.
It's interesting to see the pictures there, specially those of the famous actor from films of the Old West.(see Westerndarsteller)
Clik on each tittle and enjoy them.

It's kind of weird -- all of the cowboys shown are movie actors. But I suppose that's natural given it's a non-American web site. It does look odd that most of the cowboy pictures are of the actors wearing their business suits.

I have heard Westerns are very popular in Germany. A German author became famous writing westerns although he had never visited the U.S.

In my youth playing indians and cowboys was very popular here in Germany. Children disguised as cowboys and indians and fought against each other. Therefore there is a special interest in the American Wild West by older people like me. This seems to change with the computer generations.

The German author who wrote about the American west and similiarly about the orient without being there was Karl May 1842-1912. He wrote those books between 1880 and 1900. I think he later visited the orient and perhaps the United States too. As well there were not really good informations about the Wild West then (Television and Internet were not developed yet), his books have many wrong facts but german people specially youth became a special interest in the American west at least for the next eighty years.

Please execuse any errors english is not my own language.

It looks like he's included a filmography of his favorite western actors.
