This is a german link which shows very interesting stuff about ACW and others conflicts.
This page shows uniforms from the Union and the Rebels.
Maybe of possible interest to see them.
You can clik on Uniforms and then choose each option (Nordens or Südens)and then choose the uniform options there.

Actually, those color uniform plates are taken from the book "Uniforms of the Civil War in Color" by Philip Haythornewaite (first published in 1975 and reprinted in 1990). The text describing each plate was summarized from the descriptions in the book.

And where did Philip Haythornewaite get the photographs?

Haythornewaite uses drawings by Michael Chappell -single figure studies in the same way you would find in older Osprey's. For its time ( 1975) it's OK.

I bought the book in the late seventies good enough for any collection.

I bought the book when I was in college and getting into ACW wargaming. It is fairly good, though there are some odd bits. For example the description of one plate refers to McClellan's capture of Richmond in 1862.

The German site that Tango01 links to is interesting, thanks for putting it up. Fortunately I speak German.

Happy for that John the Greater.
Lucky you speak german!.
We loose a lot on this hobbie for now knowing that idiom.
