Very Simple: The George Lucas, over-re-worked material from a guy who wouldn't know how to end a movie if his life depended on it? OR The Family Guy and Robot Chicken versions |
Rex Bellator | 10 Feb 2012 11:54 a.m. PST |
only the first movie circa 1977 (in 1977 or else it would be crap as well) all others have been crap |

How many sci fi epics have you made in your lifetime? Or heck, lets keep it in the realm of possibility. How many times have you come up with a project so innovative that your entire industry was changed. Much less the world. Back under the bridge with ya. |

Hardware Wars of course! "Help me Oggie Ben Doggie, you are my only hope!" The Empire Strikes Back was not cr*p by the way. The Return of the Jedi was a bit silly with the teddy bears and the sand monster though

I've got to see the Family guy version and more of the Robot Chicken version before I can make a decision

The original trilogy, and 'The Empire Strikes Back' was the best of those. Not interested in the various reissued amedned versions. Never seen 'The Family Guy' nor 'Robot Chicken' and have no intention of doing so. |

Robot Chicken was pretty funny, but I'm a sucker for that kind of thing. And I own Hardware Wars on VHS, so . . . "Basketball is a peaceful planet!" |

One does not need to be a master chef to know when his food tastes like crap. Personally I'd do my own "Fan-edit:" Han still shoots first, but with the updated effects. Especially with the better ending to RotJ compared to the original teddy-bear dance

Lose the teddy bears completely. The rumor originally that this segment of the movie was to have all Wookiees instead of Ewoks. But George decided that the fact that Chewie is seen using technology wouldn't fit into his idea of a "primitive race overcoming a technologically superior one" ala Vietnam (and yes, I realize that idea has a host of its own problems). Or at least that's the rationalization
But how much cooler would it have been with Wookiees instead! Damon. |
Dynaman8789 | 10 Feb 2012 1:31 p.m. PST |
> But how much cooler would it have been with Wookiees instead! Never happen. See what really happened was that George had ordered a bunch of wookie toys but the supplier made them too small

A rumor a few years back was that a warehouse full of Boba Fett toys was one of the driving factors to Jango Fett's inclusion in Ep2. A quick re-paint and away they go

If there's one thing I hate more than Star Wars, then it is ing Family Guy. Which is odd really, as I absolutely love American Dad.

Of that choice? None of the above. I love the original Star Wars, acknowledge The Empire Strikes Back as a masterful film (written by Lawrence Kasdan, one of my favorite screenwriters and the best collaborator Lucas ever had— he also wrote Raiders of the Lost Ark), and was thoroughly disappointed with Return of the Jedi, but still enjoy watching it as the end of the trilogy. The others are barely watchable. I despise Family Guy, so I won't see it. Haven't seen Robot Chicken. I do have a soft spot for parts of Spaceballs, though overall it's hardly one of Mel Brook's better efforts. "They've gone plaid!" (My favorite line.) |

It doesn't help that the Wookies were known for 'ripping peoples arms out of the socket' by then. That would have put the movie solidly into an R rating, if not worse. |

Haven't seen the cartoon ones. I like the version where Han shot first, but some of the additional, added footage for episode IV has been good, e.g. seeing the bounty hunters and Jabba, as well as more of the retched hive of scum and villany. |
Thornhammer | 10 Feb 2012 9:14 p.m. PST |
I really do like the Family Guy Star Wars shows. They are the best things in the entirety of the Family Guy garage. The Robot Chicken shows are just random Star Wars sketches, but the Family Guy shows actually follow the plot of the movies (closely) with Family Guy humor thrown in. |

I for one really don't care for the Family Guy Star Wars specials. That humor does'nt appeal to me whatsoever I mean look you had the dirty old man playing Obi Wan who had eyes for Luke, and that just does'nt sit right with me. I never liked the Family Guy Cartoon so that's my two cents. Captain Gideon |

I still like the original Star Wars, but think Lucas has taken this too far. Are you aware copyright laws are supposed to cover a copyright for 28 years. So really the original Star Wars should be public domain right now, it's just they keep filing extension for it. Or Lucas keeps making changes to it to keep it out of public domain. But they've lost me to the dark side. No, not to Star Trek, or Farscape or other some thing. Tomino is my master now, they just keep making those Gundam series in Japan. |

Han shooting second is the only change I didn't like, for 2 reasons 1. Han shooting first shows he's not to be messed with and has a ruthless side. 2. How did Greedo miss from 2 and a half feet? I think the endor battle is extended in the bluray but still not enough ewok blasting action. Favourite films in the series are Empire, Rot Sith and Star wars. |

The 3 originals – the 3 prequels were ok ber bad dialogue and bad actors – watch them with the sound off and they are much better. I'd still take them over any of the star trek dross any day though. |
