10mm and 15mm

But I would add 'Cards' to the list of choices. My favourite ACW game by far is Blue vs. Gray by GMT games: link

Mapleleaf11 Feb 2012 8:28 a.m. PST

6mm -allows units and battles that look good in a realistic area

Martin Rapier11 Feb 2012 9:54 a.m. PST

Most of the ACW gamng I've done has been with 2mm, similar mass effect as 6mm but much easier to paint:)

TKindred11 Feb 2012 10:29 a.m. PST

At 2mm scale, I'd be using spray-painted armies of blue & grey, possibly dipped.

Flat Beer and Cold Pizza11 Feb 2012 11:43 a.m. PST

15mm for me.

Thought about 1/805 (2mm) and been following link (and still waiting for part 6 – hint)

Tried 1/107 (15mm) for skirmish and thinking about this again using 61-65 rules

1/72, not too small for old eyes yet not so big that large battles are a problem.

HammerHead12 Feb 2012 5:28 a.m. PST

28mm

15/18mm. Still beautiful individual figures as well as room to manuver on the table top without the phalanx syndrome.

Used to play 15mm then switched to 28mm which I prefer but it can depend on what type of game you want.

For big battles 15mm and below is better, I've seen some terrific set ups in 6mm. If I was starting over I'd probably go 10mm with the new Kallistra range which are brilliant.

As I'm more and more into fighting with individual Brigades using large (40 – 50 figure) Regiments, 28mm units are visually imposing and hard to maneuver, which brings in another dimension.

Johny Boy16 Feb 2012 3:43 p.m. PST

10mm Kallistra ACW, so that makes them 12mm, either way stunning sculpts

Bottom Dollar16 Feb 2012 6:45 p.m. PST

I see a consensus pick.

54mm
28/25mm
(18mm)
15mm
(12mm)
10mm
6mm
(2mm)

*I'll take 15mm's or thereabouts*

Kadavar17 Feb 2012 5:15 a.m. PST

6mm now, but moving to 10mm. You still get the big battle feel but have enough detail to be pleasing on the eye.

Olaf 0317 Feb 2012 7:03 a.m. PST

20mm, there is a good selection of both metal and plastic figures.

Old Slow Trot17 Feb 2012 8:00 a.m. PST

15mm,mainly. But can handle 6mm and have done 20mm.

Grizzlymc17 Feb 2012 2:21 p.m. PST

6mm

138SquadronRAF17 Feb 2012 5:48 p.m. PST

10mm – got rid of everything bigger with no regrets.
