I've just invested (for the first time) in some Winsor & Newton brushes and the difference from what I usually use is dramatic. I now feel that hopefully improving my technique beyond what I already have achieved is not a totally lost cause, so I am looking for things to help me achieve this.

Has anybody tried any of these videos, and if so, what did you think? I am most interested in Advanced Tutorials: One (white, black, skin tone and nmm) and the Dreadnought (rust & weathering) vids, but feedback on any of them would be great.

Thanks,

Chris

I have the monthly subscription.

The subscription is easily cheaper than buying the videos on their own. If you are looking to just download everything and then cancel after a couple months or even if you stick around. He was slow at first but lately he has been releasing a new video every two months. So you are paying $16 USD instead of $25 USD for any new video.

Some of the tutorials are great, awesome, terrific!!! Some are… not for me. (NMM was not what I was hoping)

I do not know of anyone else doing sculpting videos, and if you are into sculpting, those vids are worth every penny. Most of the painting techniques you can find somewhere else, but you can still learn something.

I have definitely learned something from each one. I think I get the idea of blending much better now. And yet sometimes there is that one thing I want to see the artist work on, and either they skip it or they pull it off camera because it is in the way, leaving me yelling at the screen.

Also most of the painting tutorials are not THE actual item displayed, but the techniques used in the painting/sculpting of that item demonstrated using another miniature.

Sculpting the dreadnaught for instance is a totally different dreadnaught with different details. The weathering dreadnaught is another new dreadnaught only showing the techniques, such as using an airbrush and using oils for a weathered effect.

So do not be surprised at that.
