I am planning a diorama on this battle in 20mm and was wondering if anyone can recommend a good source for maps of the battle that depict the proper terrain, troop positions, troop movements as the battle progressed, etc, etc. Any assistance would be appreciated; maps on line, books, scenerio booklets, etc, etc for me to consider, thanks in advance

Mike Robinson's book The Battle of Quatre Bras is a very detailed account, with good maps of the progression of the battle. Probably the best book I have found so far describing the battle. Peter Hofschrorer's Waterloo 1815: Quatre Bras and Ligny is also a good starting point. A little less comprehensive but lots of pictures and some maps. Try also the excellent website Napoleon, his armies and his enemies link for a good overview I am researching the battle as well to play in 10mm. See my blog for updates on what I find. This link may be useful for a description of the Bossu Wood. I found it a bit hard to find out what kind of wood it was. Apparently it had mainly beech with some oak trees, and quite varied on the inside. link It also has some good maps of the battle progression using an overlay on goole maps. 10mmnapoleonics.blogspot.com |

I am not familiar with some of the newer books. But surely Siborne's book which has two contuored maps at different ties should be looked at. |
