Most of you are saying "wait what about the russian tanks?!"

Well I am planning on still using them on saturday, but this thread is merely to get suggestions for my next project!

The thing is, i have been dying to do a North African Campaign, but am unsure of what army to build.

but I have been wanting to improve my painting skills, as well.

So all this boils down to is another one of those "which army" threads

Whoaahh there Cowboy! I appreciate your enthusiasm but you might want to slow down and take some time to get to know the game better through consistent use of one force for a while before jumping on to force #2 already.

Lots of folks here can help with North Africa ideas when you share some more details on what you're thinking. Right now I'm more interested in hearing the details of how your upcoming event with your Soviets goes.

Cheers,
VB

thats probably a better Idea…-_-

I did not think of it that way…

Red Desert was a Europa variant for a what-if the russians sent a army into the Mid-East and North African Theater. Just cobble a OB from a Caucasus Military District in 1941 and shake up Wavell and Rommel.

Well, I have a box set of M3 Grants (5) that I'll sell you at a reasonable price so you could do Britain's 8th Army. I got them to do Gardiner's 2/13 but discovered they only came with sand skirt tracks.

i've been leaning towards Italians actually, but thanks for the offer though

Italians will definitely get you working on your painting: you need *lots* of Italians. Lots and lots of them, unless you do Paracudisti.

jpflumignan10 Feb 2012 10:25 a.m. PST

any benefits of doing paracudisti, over standard Italians??

VonBurge10 Feb 2012 11:10 a.m. PST

You won't need to paint as many, that's for sure.

Bersaglieri aren't too bad to paint either – especially in MW…

jpflumignan10 Feb 2012 12:12 p.m. PST

I might do regular Italians…by the time I finish It'll be progressively better :P

the obvious downside will be the time spent painting

VonBurge10 Feb 2012 12:52 p.m. PST

The "basic" Italians in the Desert will be very usable for both Early War and Late War periods in FoW. The equipment does not change much.

Take your time painting. Play the snot out of your Soviets while you do!!!

My first FoW force was a British 1st Army Rifle Company for Tunisia. It took me over four months to finish. But while I worked on that I was gaming on with a US Rifle Co that I borrowed from a mate.

Good luck, have fun,

VB

uhm…one last question…

would these miniatures work for FoW?
(15mm) but I was just curious how many i would need for a small-medium sized game?
