I converted one of the toy pirate ships from the Pressman's Weapons and Warriors Pirate Battle game. There are some pictures at my blog site. Let me know what you think.

Nice change. What is the size of the ship/length and width?

Some good ideas there. I've got one of those games waiting to be converted myself! Maybe someday when my lead mountain is reduced grin

Well done!
Just a remark: as often with ships models, she still looks 'too clean' and thus slightly toyish. 'Inking' with some liquid used for the 'dipping' technique -or merely, as I did, with matt 'light oak' wood varnish- would highlight the reliefs and make her looking more 'real'

Very good.

Abdul,
You are talking about the hull right? I think that is a good suggestion that i can still add.

thanks for the comments guys.

A nice looking vessel.

I like the rigging and the extra bits you've added. The added touches make it look a lot better.

The artwork on the sails is superb!

Who makes the railings you've added, and which cannons are you using (manufacturer and size/rate)?

If I recall correctly, they are about 7" long, or so, therefore they can be used with both 15mm/18mm and 25mm/28mm figs. The ship's wheel included with them is a bit large for 15mm figs, but you can either ignore that, remove it, or replace it with a tiller bar at the rear.

Mako,
The railings are from Grandt Line Castings. They are called upper porch spindles. The cannons as well as the wheel and all the other bits are from Games of wars. The next ship gets a swivel gun fore!

War in 15mm,
The ship is 3.5" wide and 8" long.

Thanks for the info.

War in 15mm: dimensions are the hull without the bow sprite.

Abdul: I am going to take two of the smaller ships, prime it and then dip one in the Quickshade product and the other in some minwax that I have.

I will update the blog when they are done.

That's really good. I have one of these ships lying around but have yet to do anything with it. Your blog entry gives me inspiration!

Nice boat!

I didn't believe that bare breast mermaid figureheads (or bare breast anyone else) could be accepted as children toys in the USA :)

Patrice,
I got them past big brother by claiming a wardrobe malfunction!
