I'd like to tap the brilliant Hivemind again, as you did so well with my Battalion Valaise. I have a French army, the Corps du Vin, as all units in it come from wine producing regions. Sadly, although the French have German, Belgian and Lorraine regiments, there is no Mosel/Moselle regiment. I want one. In fact, I have painted one. White coat at present, with light yellow facings of course. But as to it's standard, I am in a quandary. Should it be a French army German unit, a Lorraine unit or maybe a Reichsarmee unit? As you can see, this changes the standard, and maybe the coat. Right now I am inclining towarsd Reichsarmee, but would love to hear your opinions. Thanking you all in eager anticipation |

Since it's Moselle, I'd go with Reichsarmee. Eric |

How about the Regt. Luxembourg during the War of Austrian Succession? Same region. Already in white coat. link |

And if you go with a Reichsarmee unit then you shouldn't have to repaint it as many of them wore white coats. And here is your flag: link Jim |

'Moselle' was one of the départements created in 1790 from Lorraine. Thus before the death of Stanislas in 1766 it would be a Lorraine regiment, yet regiments from this new province (Gardes Lorraines, Milices de Loraine) kept their traditional uniform for some time. But since yellow was the distinguishing color of the Lorraine troops, a white uniform with yellow facings is perfect in any case. |

Give the regiment royal status and you have the correct facings and flag as abdul666lw mentioned: link or not: link If you wish to build an ImagiNation regiment, name them after anyone of the towns located "on the Moselle" and add the figure of Bacchus or clusters of grapes to their colours. Having a corps of wine titled regiments you will certainly require appropriate refreshements; perhaps wagons loaded with wine barrels. Cheers, |

Thanks for the sage advice all, with a white coat the regiment can of course be the Royal Lorraine, but I want a Regmt Mosel dammit :) |

Why in Hell a regiment in white with light yellow facings could not be 'Moselle'? Did you check that the number of buttons, the pockets flaps
on your minis were *exactly* those of historical 'Royal Lorraine'? Such differences were deemed significant and sufficient to differentiate regiments, by then. |

I am ashamed to say I always have half an eye out for various regiments that can use the same colour facings, because of my Replaceable Flag System (TM) :) Oddly enough, the Old Glory figures' buttons are about right for Lorraine (I have just checked) |

the Old Glory figures' buttons are about right for Lorraine (I have just checked) Only YOU will know it, so no difficulty here! |

I'm not sure I understand the problem – in fact I'm almost sure I don't understand it

freecloud wants to be sure his imagi-native regiment could not be mistaken for some *historical* one: remarkable purism! |

freecloud wants to be sure his imagi-native regiment could not be mistaken for some *historical* one: remarkable purism! No no no, sorry, I was joking re the 3 buttons, I don't give a damn re what it looks like button wise at 28mm. I did find it amusing the Lorraine regt had the OG fig's button layout – coincidence or what! I was more wondering what the source for a imaginary fictional Moselle might be. Could also be Palitinate btw, I am thinking. May have to play with a few flags

[quote}Having a corps of wine titled regiments you will certainly require appropriate refreshements; perhaps wagons loaded with wine barrels. Good plan! Need to find one in 28mm. Fwiw the Official Backstory is (ahem) the Regiment Mosel has been (reluctantly) offered up by the Bishop-Elector of Wurstburg and will join the Reichsarmee brigade of the Corps du Vin for the Big Push in a few weeks time. Thanks all

Pic and blurb for the Regiment, thanks for all the advice. It joins the Reichsarmee Brigade Imaginär in the French army massing in the spring of 1757. link |
