So I've just traded my ACW for cavcrazy's Napoleonics.
It started out ACW for Austrian's but about the time my count got to 540 infantry, 70 cav and 15 guns he offered me the whole lot. Quite reluctantly I said, "Sure."
The box that arrived weighed 20 pounds, and is reported to contain between 1600 and 2000 minis.
Along with the coveted Austrians, I now have Brits, Dutch, Saxons, Wurtenburgers, and enough Russian and French to refight Borodino in 1:1 scale! Okay I exaggerated there, 1:5.
The local ACW crfowd seems to think he got the better deal, but I'm pretty happy.
One does wonder why cavcrazy isn't here going on about how he gave me a hernia… wink
So much for the trade lowering my lead pile…

The joys of miniature exchanges, a great example of TMP bringing people together.

Painted or unpainted?

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER09 Feb 2012 8:21 a.m. PST

Unpainted, but some primed. Not a Bricole in sight…
Have I mentioned my new hernia?

Let us know how you get on. Take a picture of what you have, and put up occasional progress pictures. It may help you keep on track to finish the multitude.

Best of luck.

Don't look at me. I am with the ACW crowd.

I would have stuck with the ACWs myself. Never learned French, but I do speak Texan.

Gunfreak09 Feb 2012 1:27 p.m. PST

Is that French pounds or British pounds?

nsolomon9909 Feb 2012 4:26 p.m. PST

Sounds like a great deal to me :) – I liked ACW too but that much napoleonic potential would be hard to pass up.

its the wise thing to do.

only a madman or someone who doesnt read books would attempt to do both periods – there are just too many good books on both that you have to read, and doing both leaves no time or money for playing the games.

vtsaogames10 Feb 2012 6:27 p.m. PST

I read a lot of books and so must be a madman.

I have the following periods:
Punic Wars
Late Rome
1066 and all that
Mongols vs. Teutonic Knights
Swiss vs. Burgundy
a friend has 100 Years War
Seven Years/French & Indian War (many armies)
AWI
Napoleonic (many armies)
American Civil War
Franco-Prussian with some Austrians
Great War mid-east, adding East Africa
WWII east front

What is the scale?

SECURITY MINISTER CRITTER11 Feb 2012 12:42 a.m. PST

15mm. It still boggles the mind.
I didn't know they made that many Napoleonics figures…

Karpathian11 Feb 2012 1:06 a.m. PST

I'm sure Napoleonics should come by the kilo.
