Peter and I are planning to start a miniatures campaign using Hannibal: Rome Vs Carthage by Valley Games as a driver.

Last night I stoked up the fire and we played the board game for the first time to see if it could be used – a short report (with pics) and product review here:

Looks like a workable plan. I like your Dalek door guardian.

I have the same game and think, it is absolutely usable for a campaign. I have written myself some rules to use it with DBA, you dont need more than one page of changes.

Good idea, James, please keep us posted. It also means you get to use all those figures again and again!

Looks promising.

Olicana, looks great!

A great idea for keeping the game in place would be the vassal system. it allows you to recreate the board electronically.

I can't link to it from work, but it would be an easy way to keep track of your board, and also allow you to use the table space for the actual battles.

Hannibal is a great game, and playing on the actual board is a nicer experience than the online version.

Hi Quadratus,

thanks. I've downloaded the stuff already. It might prove very useful but, I'm a bit old school when it comes to maps and stuff – I like the tactile nature of counters and pins.

the map is nice but technology solves problems :)

HMMM, I have not played H vs R but hear good things about it. I would like to work up a link to bridge C&C ancients with this game. Anyone tried that?

Olicanan you could use the magentic paper / card that you can now buy online…..? I know some boardgamers have used this when travelling etc so the game is not disturbed.
