Hey Khurasan: Some days ago I have bought 5 Roco M-103s
planning to give them an extensive makeover with green stuff and plasticard and to turn them into near-future tanks. My main source of inspiration are the upgrading packages for older u.s. tanks soldiering on in the Turkish Army and such.

I wish someone made a 1/35th scale kit of the M103. Accurate Armour was promising for years they would but then they pooped out on the project. ![frown frown](boards/icons/frown.gif) They do make a T28 though, what an awesome vehicle! The heaviest armoured vehicle ever produced by the Americans. Of course, if it's WWII German, you get an elaborate injection moulded kit of it from someone, even if it's no more than a fanciful sketch a landser once hastily drew on his rations package

Just putting a large gun on a WWII turret doesn't work for me due to recoil problems.ammo storage and possible auto loader space. There is a reason modern big gun tanks have turrets so big. That is why the Israelis were able to modify a Merk IV hull into a HIFV with more armor then the tank, rearmour the top and it still weighs less then the tank. So far all of Jon's tanks at Khurasan have gotten it right. I think with what he has produced so far and what is coming out there is plenty for several factions. Now if he would do a couple more IFV and APCs I would never look at another company. I am thinking about getting some BTR90s from QRF for an upcoming purchase of his Neon Arabs, just because they look futuristic and yet second rate. I love Near Future stuff and post's like this are great. |

As always Jon Khurasan has nailed it on the head with laser-guided precision. To get a AMX-13, M-47, M-48 (not the latter marks)ASU-57 or ASU-85 in 15mm or 1/72, ppppppfffffffffffttttt. Anything scribbled by German in the mid-40s on a napkin will be released by Dragon/ Armourfast/EasyArmour etc in 1/72 & 1/35. |

An AMX-13 in 1/72 would be so nice, Trumpeter lately has released several modern and contemporary tanks in that scale even of minor countries not heavily involved in armoured warfare. |

<ahem><cough><cough> Stirdswagen:
And then there's the MBT-70 project:

Oh, and speaking of ocilatin' turrets, you're going to need some 8-rad armoured cars:
Plus some inspiration, a BT prototype that tested out the sloped armour concept used on the T-34:
Hope this helps!![evil grin evil grin](boards/icons/evil_grin.gif)

Have to agree with Khurasan the M103 is one awesome tank. Having seen them in person they are massive! Bigger than any modern MBT in use and much much taller!Another option if you can find any pics (maybe theirs one above) but back before the M1 came along the U.S. and Germany where working on a joint MBT project. That would be a cool futuristic German variant! |
