Some of you may be curious to see collected pictures of models that won the main awards (Slayer Swords) at Golden Demon contests in 2011.

Moreover, the author asked several popular miniature painters to share their opinions about these works.

A few bits stood out for me:

The amount of detail in each piece is more than I could cope with.
The shock in the comment "looks like it would be used on a tabletop" now THAT'S an odd idea for a figure!
Lack of skulls on some models – nice to see
The use of lighter colours on the buildings – much better than the dark walls of old

Andrew, you mentioned the comment which shocked you. Well, yeah, I think it was at least a bit exaggerated, but bear in mind that it comes from a very good painter whose expectations may be much higher than ours :)
