OK, I need some help. I feel that my terrain boards look too clean if you like. So I have given one of them a go and remodeled it. Not sure if it made it better or not. Take a look and give me some feedback. Any tips are appreciated as well!

I think they look fine as they are. If you are going to remodel them, I'd say the option of a little glue etc as highlighted by the arrow in the last frame is the better look.

A friend of mine has a similar tile system using rolls of GW grass.

Some options.

Use a wide flat brush and dry brush light green and later yellow to break up the pristine green field. Irregular size patches look better than ovals or round spots.

Or

Paint large patches of earth colour 2/3 to 3/4 and sprinkle the same grass shade but sparingly and thicken areas to taste.

I use the last option and at the blog you can see an example:

Give em a light spray with paints- tans, sand and white to break it up a bit.

Thanks for the feedback guys.

The consensus here, on the poll and some other fora seems to be not to overdo it. I had been thinking about airbrushing it before (instead of drybrushing), but dropped the idea, but I think I will go back to that. Plus I shall add some static grass to the bald patches here to make them look more natural. On another forum someone mentioned the use of foliage clumps sprinkled over the board… that might be worth a try as well.

Anyway… will keep you posted!
