Some fellow bloggers coming over this year for Salute to meet some of the Rejects and others, need a good pub near the venue?

If you're not worried about prices then I'd give this a go…

Fox @ Excel is just outside the venue main entrance.

Fox and Connaught is next to the Premier Inn hotel at the other end of the venue.

Customs House is behind the venue across from the Light Rail way station

All serve bar meals and are reasonable (for the area) on prices. If you go with the restaurants (they have glassed off dining areas) at the Fox pubs be prepared to pay well for your meals (stay in the pub an just order bar meals), similarly there is a chinese restuarant next to Customs house and Fox @ Excel, but both are expensive.

I will however add that whilst expensive the food and service in all these restuarants was excellent from my experience of having tried each of them once.

About 10 mins drive from the Excel is the Gallions Reach shopping centre for nandos/pizza hut/mcdonalds. There are also other retail parks a similar distance with Tescos/Sainsbury super markets.

You'll find the Critical Mass Games crew crawling around the pubs on the Friday night :)

Went there last year, bar's a bit noisy but okay, restaurant is not cheap but was quite good, does a decent steak.

What! Get a couple of drinks in then wait in the Fast-Track line forever while those without the wit to purchase their ticket in advance manage to steam past into the venue before me! I'd need a wee.

Hope to see you there Mr. Lurker!

You may fall over a few Frothers at the Fox. Stay away from the pub if you find attractive Polish barmaids a problem……

Nothing wrong with any attractive barmaids, it'll be the Fox then…..

Are Frothers attractive Polish barmaids then? It certainly didn't look like that last year :-(

After enough beers everyone is an attractive Polish barmaid :)

Seriously though it does seem that every barmaid in the area is attractive and Polish……..
