Books on the 7YW in Europe seem to be a rarity. I tried reading the recent one by Franz A.J. Szabo, but found it a tiresome read (too anti-Frederick for me). Just purchased "Frederick the Great & the Seven Years' War". Not interested in any pap from Osprey. Any others? |

Anything by Christopher Duffy. |

Dennis Showalter's book On the Wars of Frederick is quite good. Thanks, John |

Actually, the Ospreys are some of the better references for this period. Outside of specialised stuff its a dry period for writing. |

Second the recommend for Christopher Duffy; also General Sir David Fraser's 'Frederick the Great' – he is much more realistic about how the Prussian army really worked than most academics

There is also Savory's His Britannic Majesty's Army in Germany about the Anglo-German army against the French. Jim |

One of the best things about Ospreys are the references. |
