I fondly remember from my youth a story in (I think) Spectacular Spider-Man, in which the uniformed minions of both the Owl and Doctor Octopus fought each other, with Spider-Man and the Black Cat caught in the middle.

Having trawled the various websites and manufacturers, it seems that there is a dearth of spandex clad uniformed minions, to recreate this kind of conflict.

As you will need a fair few and want to have different weapons options, the ideal product would be 28mm multi-part plastics, with a variety of head options, which doesn't currently exist, unless you want your minions in overcoats or are prepared to use 'standard' military figures.

This would keep the price point per model down and give you a good variety from the same box, so you could conceiably have (from abox that makes 20 figures) 10 goons form each faction, just with a subtle change of head, pose and paint-job.

We need goons!

I'm working dilligently to make this happen.

But it looks like you can't have everything. Crossover Miniatures will be producing metal goons with head options. I'm starting with a hydra-esk, shield-esk, and a ball cap security type head for starters.

We are planning four different shooting poses, a commander type, and a guard pose for initial release. I've asked our kickstarter backers for ideas on other poses to match the style of these goons, but being RPG'ers mostly, they have different ideas to us wargammers. :)

Check out the progress. Check out the blog.

I've been meaning to do a blog post on our goon/henchman for a bit. Maybe I'll get to it today or tomorrow.

I was regularly posting on here for ideas but tend to receive little feedback. Funny thing is, those that give feedback are REALLY heard and many have great ideas that I can help bring to life.

PS, found that issue of Spiderman you were talking about,

now to try and get my hands on it. :)

Issues 73 to 75 cover this story arc.

Some images that the OP is referencing…

In the main battle scenes, most of the goons appear unarmed.

I'm sure thay had some kind of firearms, but I'll admit it was a long time ago I read this story arc. However, did make an impression on me, hence the post.

Rusti, like what you're doing over on your site. As I understand it, you'll be releasing individual 'super' bodies, which the customer then selects a head for, to create their own hero/ villain, correct?

I had a look at the heads you've got so far and have a few suggestions:

1. The Super Soldier – the spy head makes the figure look too generic, as I could probably find a figure like this in a number of sci-fi ranges out there. Quite like the blank head, but feel it should have eye-holes. The generic cowl head is great.
2. The Super Villain – All three are cool and I can imagine the hooded head on the Super-soldier body quite easily.
3. The Guardsman – Only the cowl head has been finalised, as I understand it…
4. Big Supervillain – Ram/Demon head and Tiki head are great. Not so sure about the hairy head, as the rest of his body is hairless, so looks slightly out-of-place.

Head Suggestion List:
1. Skull mask, like a cross between Taskmaster's updated mask and General Grievous.
2. Either of Deadshot's masks, classic or armoured.
3. Captain Britain's original mask, with eyeholes and hair showing.
4. Classic domino mask, like Robin.
5. 'Blind justice', with eyes covered with a band of cloth, tied either at the side or back.
6. A variant of Booster Gold's original mask or Justice's, with the ears and back of the head covered, with or without goggles.
7. For you big chap, a long-haired angry head, like Doc Samson on steroids, would look cool.

Just a few ideas to play around with…

Thanks for that link religon, saves me quite some hassle as I pretty much get everything I need from those images. :)

@Carrion, you're pretty close to the mark. Each hero body will come with one head (determined by us) and then you can buy other heads in groups of say 6-10 (yet to be determined) which you can pay around with. I wish it was more customizable, but the economics of the thing are not easy and we want to be around a bit.

A blank head with eye holes wouldn't be a blank would it? :) Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll keep them in mind. Our hope is that folks will find enough that they like that we can help them out.

The wait is killing me! I can't wait to get the figures out, but I'm to a point where I have done everything that I can and it's in the hands of others.

But rest assured, there are more henchmen on the way. If these sell well, I'll bulk out the line, some with hand weapons, females, standing around? Then it's onto the ninjas and robots. :)
