Is there any hope we might see a return of GW interest in Epic? |

Oh I wish. I would not say No but all their recent 'Other year' games have been one-offs – Dreadfleet, Spacehulk. Pat |

The rules and availability have arguably benefitted from being largely ignored by GW. Mini prices and publicity, not so much. Go to the Tactical Command forums and have a nose around. link ----- Warren B. minisculpture.co.uk |

I think mini-prices are pretty good. The basic sets of troops are dirt cheap. You can pick up a lot of the tanks, etc. 2nd hand for little to nothing sometimes even if the ebay prices are high. I have a decent sized ork army and it cost much less than $100 USD, I have smaller space marine and eldar forces that I bought for about $40 USD each. They are certainly enough to play the game. |

I think that last Epic Armageddon fiasco was the final nail unfortunately. Even if they ever did do it, it'd be a one shot box set. The minis are still available, but the Titans are not cheap by any means, and can you imagine how much better they might be with GW's new plastic design tech? I'm surprised someone hasn't done "Not 40K" epic stuff. It's actually a cool idea. |

Well, there are plenty of 6mm sci fi manufacturers out there, already. |
Legion 4 | 07 Feb 2012 9:08 a.m. PST |
Yes, on the Tac Cmd site, Epic in all versions is alive and well
With all the other Epic compatible 6mm Sci-fi out there, DRM, Exodus Wars, MicroWorld, even GZG to name a few
who needs GW?!?! And if you look not too hard
you'll see "Not 40K Epic" out there
much of it on Tac Cmd and from some of the companies I already mention
If you are interested in Epic or 6mm Sci-fi wargaming, you really should be on Tac Cmd
You'd be "Amazed" at what you'll find
But don't take my word for it Check out the link Warren posted
or miss out

"I think that last Epic Armageddon fiasco was the final nail unfortunately." E:A a fiasco? Only within the context of GW hating on the Specialist games in general. GW has since "figured out" that they can get the fans to play that size game with 40k minis, so Epic is no longer needed. Riiight. |

Honestly, I have wished they would produce something in 15mm. After our first flames of war game, my buddies and I were all hungry for 40k battles in that magnitude. Epic without Titans is a bit lackluster and I really dislike 40k now, especially the idea that larger battles (with a skirmish rule set) are representative of the setting fluff and not just a way to milk the hell out of the current crop of loyalists "in the hobby" by way of parental allowance. |

They may end up doing something with Epic or BFG in the next couple years in order to renew their trademarks. It will be very tiny and potentially hardly noticeable but it will be their. yawargame.blogspot.com |

There are loads of 15mm sci-fi producers in the market right now. Proxie Models make good tanks to use as Leman Russ proxies, Khurasan's Space Demons can easily fill in for Tyranids, and space marine-ish infantry abounds. I'm sure you can find something to suit your tastes. |

15mm? Epic was/is 6mm though. |
Legion 4 | 07 Feb 2012 5:41 p.m. PST |
Yes, there are a lot of 15mm Sci-fi out there
probably more than 6mm
But I started 6mm/Epic in '90
and never looked back

i am no fan of warhammer 40k. been there, done that, woke up(tho i have greatly enjoyed the horus heresy books). but i'd be all "gw fanboyish" for the 40k armies in 15mm! i sometimes wonder if the idiots at gw hq ever say "we sould have done this think in 15mm
" |
Mithmee | 08 Feb 2012 6:21 p.m. PST |
Well if they did do 15mm they would be in Finecast Resin and cost around $10 USD per figure. |
