"Open Fire!" Stugs and Shermans

Was checking this out with a friend the other day. I thought the miniatures looked pretty good, albeit that they are different castings than the "regular" minis.

Anyone have opinions on them compared to the others?

Makes me think about running a Stug Company and a Sherman company. I know that the Sherman company would be pretty lame, but aside from the lack of MGs and no turret, the Stugs would be very nice to play. They'd just need close support to prevent infantry from sneaking up on them.

Anyone have thoughts?

Given that Open fire contains the Version 2 rules, and the verion 3 rules have just been released, I would hold off on buying open fire. I suspect a new package will appear soon with the Version 3 rules, and potentially with new sculpts. There was even a hint at new plastic sculpts!

Additionally, I just built a StuG company. I chose Plastic Soldier Company StuG's for my force. When the PSC StuG's arrived I built the first one, and found it incredibly fiddly to build. However, I then got an assemly line going, assemblig all Schurtzen, assembling all Wheel / track assemblies, etc., and the process went very smoothly!

I though the "Open Fire" tanks were "OK."

I'd hold of though and wait for V3's "Ope Fire" to get the newer rules. Also, the was a hint that the minis with this might possibly be in plastic. This was on the V3 overview video on the BF web site.

But if you're getting V2 Open Fire just for the minis. You'll find that the match well enough with their other BF counterpats…save the cast on bases.

Cheers, VB

If you do get it, watch out for damaged schurtzen. Very fragile.

I just bought a copy, $20 USD off Ebay. Free shipping.

My models are fine, no damage, but I did notice that little "base" each tank has under it. Is that normal? Do all Battlefront vehicles have it?

Not all Battlefront vehicles have a cast base, the ones that do are softskins and Universal Carriers as a general rule.
