Does anyone know where to pick up an armored car that would be appropriate for Brit forces in the IWI? in 28mm or compatible please. :)

Thanks for any help!

Reviersco has a couple that fit the bill, if I recall correctly.

Musketeer has a lovely Lancia in 28mm, available through Gripping Beast these days

Just checked, everything seems to be 1/72? Is that as good as it gets?

Fergal06 Feb 2012 8:12 a.m. PST

Trying to chase up that musketeer one.

Would the COpplestone K30 Rolls-Royce 1920 Armoured Car be acceptable?

ahh, yes. I've seen the armoured truck from Musketeer before, but I'm looking for a car. :)

Brigade Games has a lovely 1/56th 1920 Rolls Royce AC & Old Glory has an Austin Peerless AC for 28mm. Both the Rolls & the Austin were used in Ireland by the British in small numbers.

Company B makes some RRs as well, very nice model.

Check Old Glory's Great War range.

Thanks for all the quick responses guys! Company B wins, great looking model, competitive price and reasonable shipping.

Copplestone would have won for the later model, but I'd like one for the IWI.

Thanks again gents. :)

This one is just up the road from me at the Curragh…

See it every year at the Curragh Military vehicle fair.

If you want something just a touch heavier, try the Lancaster 6 X 4 armoured car, used by the Brits in a number of places

My favourite, though, is the Rolls Royce – I have the Copplestone models

Lancaster not used in Ireland

Austin M1917 with two turrets was used. A/C Bn served in France with these lighter A/C intended for Russia but never went. Turret have Hotchkiss

the matchbox models of yesteryear rolls royce is another option ..

The Matchbox diecast is a great little model and really looks the part with larger 28mm figures.

1/72 scale from Reviresco covers the IWI and ICW extremely well, with dedicated figures for Irish partisans, Birts, and Black & Tans, plus a Lancia armoured lorry, Rolls, Austin, assorted civvie vehicles.

So it's up to the 28mm makers to play some catch up here while those of us who game in 1/72 scale keep having all the fun…evil grin

I agree, 28mm has quite a lot of making up to do!

Here's to scale equality in the IWI!

GOTHIC LINE MINIATURES08 Feb 2012 11:54 a.m. PST

28mm is the best scale in my opinion and if you don't mind using all the die cast vehicles scales available (from 1/60,1/56,1/50,1/48 and some 1/43 ) you have a tremendous variety!!!
